I downloaded the latest Skype update today and it had accessibility improvements. I made a voice call and I was able to access all the buttons and put it on speaker phone. Also, I was able to read the text in chat conversations again. So I guess there's no need to downgrade to older versions of Skype anymore.

Well, it only took Skype about a year, but it seems to be back working with Voiceover on the iPhone. Of course, I have no credits anymore, as I completely stopped using Skype, so I haven't been able to test it out fully. I have noticed that the dial pad once again works with VO. Instead of just saying dial pad all over the screen you seem to be able to dial numbers once again by double tapping on the number. For now since I don't use it that much I will probably just stick with FaceTime, but Skype for at least now does seem like an option for those of you who want it to be. They did mention improved accessibility in the release notes for their latest update, so I have to give them credit for making an effort.
