Hi,
I updated to iOS 18 on my iPhone 15 pro yesterday. I noticed instead of siri reading the notification out when the phone is locked and not connected to a bluetooth device, 9 times out of 10, it will just say "x sent a long notification, youtube sent a long notification, or so and so sent a long message". Ummmmmmm, to me, that defeats the purpose of it announcing notifications. When I'm on the treadmill, it's not very easy to get the phone out of my pocket, (if it's even with me, and not across the room), and find out what the notification is. I changed all of the notifications to announce, and not just direct messages or time sensative ones. Is anybody else experiencing this maddening bug, or new behavior? And if so, have you found any work-arounds that don't involve getting the phone out to see what the notification is?
Thanks

Easier to just…
Easier to just have your regular notifications, announce everything, whether on the home screen, or lock screen. And not even bother with using Siri for announcements of notifications. Personally, I feel like this feature is designed for people who do not typically require voiceover.
that's fine, but
There are often times that I don't have the phone near me, I'm listening to music on a different device while exercising. I like it how siri would just read the bodies of the messages and the notification without stumbling over itself like voiceover sometimes does. For instance, if voiceover is reading a notification when another one comes in, or when the time changes, it tends to then read the time, or worse yet, the number of notifications, instead of the meat of the notification itself.
Fair enough…
Fair enough. I have not experienced that myself, but everyone’s experience is a little different. 🙂
