Seeking Totally Blind Users of Recording Apps

I am a library volunteer who assists a totally blind author of essays and articles on topics including physics and politics. He currently uses a Sony recording machine with mechanical buttons for start, stop, rewind, fast forward, and play, but this technology, and those who maintain it, are disappearing from the world. He would like to communicate with other totally blind authors who have successfully transitioned from a system like the Sony recording machine to an Apple-based recording or dictation app. He would like the ability to quickly rewind by a few words and record over what he had before.

Are there any other totally blind authors out there who could share their experiences transitioning from mechanical dictation to an Apple-based app?
