I would like to know if anybody has information of apps for those who have combined vision and hearing loss? I am looking for a speech to text app that wil transmit what is being said on my iPad so I can understand what is being said at meetings. I am Blind and Hard of Hearing.

Many thanks!

I haven't found anything like this, but I haven't really tried that much.
I doubt that speech recognition is that good yet, but hope I am wrong.

For one of the meetings that I attend for the state, Communication Access Realtime Transmission (CART) is available on a website that I can see using my laptop displays and I can also use the braille display. However, this is provided through a captionists who types the conversation in, similar to a court reporter. The state pays for that service.

I did browse the app store and found some speech to text apps but I'm not sure how good they are. A couple says that the conversation can be saved as a transcript. Also, I browed under captioning and under communication real-time I guess I contact those web developers and find out more.
If I find something positive -- will let you know. In the meantime, I hope someone will let me know if they find something positive as well! Being visually impaired and hard of hearing especially after a lifetime of being sighted and using my vision to read lips to accommodate for what I couldn't hear.

I sure hope some resolution comes soon...I am thinking that I will have to give up volunteer on these boards soon and I truly don't want to!!

I guess somebody at the Helen Keller center would know if anybody does.
And you know there are several db groups on facebook and also db mailing lists.
