Does turning on screen curtain on your iPhone actually save battery life? In theory it makes sense, but I’m not actually sure. Or does it depend on what model of phone you have? For reference, I have the iPhone 12 mini.
You will get many answers depending on the experience of the person. Using 13 pro and charge phone once a day. No issues with battery at this moment with iOS 17.3 RC. As the saying goes, to each their own. You will need to play with it to find and see if is true to you.
Screen curtain reduces battery consumption only if the iPhone has an OLED screen. The first iPhone with OLED was the iPhone X in 2017 then the premium iPhones with the XS in 2018 and the 11 Pros in 2019. The full line up in 2020 has OLED, including the regular 12 and 12 Mini. All subsequent iPhone lineups are OLED. All iPhone SE’s have LCD screens. The difference between the two technologies is that the OLED iPhone screens completely turn off the diodes that illuminate the screen while LCD technology uses the diodes to project a black color. With LCD, the screen is still on needing power to show a black color.
