I remember reading a lot of comments about speech central and Voice Dream a while back. I tried to find speech central on the App Store and couldn’t find it. Are there any other accessible scanners for the phone?
I'm not sure what you are scanning and for what purpose, but I've scanned documents with the Notes app that comes with IOS. It's saved into a PDF file, and VO does a pretty good job of recognizing and reading it. I usually use Seeing AI to scan and read documents, but I get the feeling that isn't quite what you want.
Hi. As stated previously it depends on what you need to scan, I'm slowly but surely having good luck with Seeing AI's bar-code scanner. I noticed that the ability to scan QR codes was added in the latest update to Seeing AI, but I haven't tried that out yet. Seeing AI seems to do very well though as an all-in-one product, if you will. Hth and good luck.
I do have voice dream scanner. But, it didn’t seem to want to save the file to voice dream reader the last time I scanned a document. That’s why I am checking on other scanners. I also was not aware that you could scan through notes. clarification would be great.

I use it when I have to send a copy of a document by way of email in PDF format, but Vo will recognize text and start reading it. You might also be able to import the PDF into or share it with the Dream Scanner app and things like that.
Thanks to the commenter who posted this Apple Support link. I had no idea that Notes could do all this, but will have to check this out the next time I receive a lease statement from my landlord. Before that would probably be better, lol.
Vo will recognize a PDF picture of text and attempt to OCR it if screen recognition is turned on. I think a PDF can be recognized and read with Seeing AI by way of the share sheet. I do this with pictures all the time and get text that happens to be in the picture. I have used that app that used to be called KNFB Reader, and can save the OCR output as a readable document, but I haven't needed it for a few years now. I'm not sure that Seeing AI can do that, but you can save the picture it takes and OCR it later, if I remember correctly. (Someone correct me if I have that wrong.) One can also quadruple-three-finger-tap to copy VO output to the clipboard after reading the results of a scan.

Do VoiceDream or Seeing AI have OCR capability?
And how do we scan documents with the Notes app?

Oh, thanks, but I was talking about performing OCR on PDF's.
As the title says...
