Safari and iOS eight

Has anyone else been experiencing problems with Safari and iOS 8? In iOS 7, Safari worked great. I was able to serf the web with very little difficulty. Now, with iOS 8, the web page freezes when I go back a page. Safari doesn't crash, but I can't swipe within the page. I have to explore or run my finger down the page to find what I want. I am using a fifth generation iPod which has been updated with the latest update. I have tried turning VO off, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

It may not be the same thing, but often, links don't do anything especially on a Google search results page. It's necessary to close and reopen Safari. IOS on iPad Air and iPhone 5s.

Hello there I am using a iPhone 5 running iOS 8 and I am having the same problem.
When ever I go back a page it freezes.
I have to wait for a long time for the page to go back.

Hi,
This probably has nothing to do with this site, but Safari constantly gets sluggish on http://www.applevis.com for me when I activate links or the Back button. I constantly have to double-tap the Reload button to make a page work correctly. It happens on other sites, too, but I can't remember which ones right now. I'm considering just using Chrome, even though it doesn't make VoiceOver report that a page has loaded. I have IOS 8.1.2.

This bug has already been discussed and has been acknowledged. the back bug also exists on the mac, ironically it only seems to be on Applevis.

This has to be one of the most frustrating bugs that still exist. Unfortunately crops up on practically every site I regularly visit, do hope they will address this reasonably quickly.

On twitter.com on safari on the latest iOS on a 64 gb iPhone 6, when I get to the end of a page and click on tap to load more tweets, it does not work. Just the old tweets stay and no new ones come up. No amount of refreshing the page or restarting the app fixes anything. Neither does 3 finger swiping to turn the page. I had to get out my Apex to finish reading my tweets. The tap to load more tweets thing also does not show as a button or link on the roter. I have to go to the bottom of the screen and feel for it. But even when I find it it does not work.

well, it's been over 3 months, now i'd be happy if they fix it at all, talk about lowering expectation.
like i said, if it is some new fancy feature, i don't mind if it doesn't work for a while, i'm not an unrealistic person; but for the most essential and basic function like web browsing, a serious bug like this for three month is unconscionable. at least on the mac side, one can always press command-r to reload, it not always reliable on the IOS side. if you touch the wrong place, your device will likely freese.

I was hoping for an 8.2 fix to be realistic, this is my first IOS device and I am not entirely impressed, particularly if this appears frequently on the mac as well. I'm presuming this bug has been reported on mass, though I've reported a number of issues to the accessibility team, and I never even received an automated acknowledgement. I actually think it is slightly more prevalent under 8.1.2.

I find that the freezing/crashing does happen slightly less often if you use reader mode on news articles, for example. Only one use case of course, and happens everywhere else, as reader is only useful on newspaper sites predominantly. Fascinatingly, I am yet to experience a crash when going back on Apple.com or apple.co.UK.

I am growing increasingly suspicious that one of the reasons this bug hasn't been fixed more quickly is that, in my observation, the majority of sighted persons don't *use* the BACK button; they depend upon a plethora of identical links on each page of a site to get them where they want to go by repeatedly clicking on links rather than going back a page. IMO this is nonsense but that's what I observe.

You could be correct with that observation slightly. I've mentioned many of these bugs to my sighted sister and the stock response is "no, never had that happen". Being objective, apple make fantastic hardware, but in many instances, their software is a little flaky, especially of late. However, having my Iphone now for a few months, I would never go back, and I do hope the outstanding VO related issues can be successfully addressed, only to reappear in IOS9 presumably.
