Hello Chris,
I honestly don't even know that such a thing exists. Unless I am missing something?
I think you are best off using a tactile ruler.

Hi, there are a lot of these apps on the App Store. I do not know if any of them are excessive bull I would start with the free ones first. Look out for an app purchases as always.
Good luck tea. See.
How is this possible? I guess the camera could take a picture for length but it fails to make sense to me. Personally, I recommend a Metric click rule. You can measure down to the millimetre and of course there are extensions for it. If I could afford one I would have purchased one months ago.
Michael, I recall way back in mid 1970s, when the earth was still green, a contractor installing a sidewalk. He used a device with a wheel and as it rolled along, a display showed the distance. So, whether with an additional attachment, or, less likely alone, such should be possible as is the case with the Igrill and related required accessory. The challenge with say, the Iphone, would be if the excellerometer was not sensitive enough either alone, or in combination say, with the camera for such fine detail. I think this device from the 70s probably only measured in feet and yards.
Once I came across an app that used ecco location to measure distances. It sent out a pulse and from what i remember it seems to be a pretty credible idea, at least the description made it seem so. unfortunately the interface of the app was not accessible. I'm sorry that I can't say the specific app, it was several years ago that I came across it. I agree with the comments above that a good click rule is the best thing to use.
