Hi all,
A roger update, version 1.2.7, is now available to download, and it contains a new feature called Live mode. Now, what is Live mode? basically, if the application is closed, the app will now play your messages outloud as soon as they arrive. previously, this wasn't possible, as you had to open the app, listen to the message, and if the app was closed, and once a new message comes in, a "roger," notification would pop up. now, this is no longer the case, as messages that you received through roger, eather single or group, can be herd outloud. Their is even a "Live mode" switch button on the settings screen from within roger. has anyone tryed this? if so, do you enjoy using it? Please soundoff in the comments.

They call it live mode, but is it really?

Roger is like heytell, you speek your message and then upload it.

Unless things have changed.

Live mode is more like what Voxer and Zello do, inother words, it behaves more like a WalkieTalkie instead of sending voice clips back and forth.

So why not simply call it auto play?

@kool_turk well, alot has changed since version 2.1.7. for example, the services such as twitter, voicemail, etc, has been moved to the settings screen instead of the new conversations screen, while the featured groups section is now gone. also I think @roger told me that the moment a user taps or dubble taps on the microphone button, a part of the message is Live, which means users can hear apart of your message as soon as it comes in. I don't know if that's true, but I think it is.

I did not like that feature. I didn't care for my messages popping up anywhere. I'd rather open them myself since they might contain personal information. Also, I found it distracting if I were listening to something, reading, or playing a game. I'm glad the developer gave us an option to toggle. However, that's only my opinion; if y'all like it, I hope you find it useful.

I agree. Live mode is cool, but say you're in a college class and you have it on. Yeah. not good.

I turned the feature off right away because if you're recording a message and another one comes in at the same time it cuts you off so you have to send another message. Also, it does odd things to my iPad Minnie. It makes the audio very tinny, and the only way to fix it is close roger if it's open, or if it's open, find a message and play it so things go back to normal. it also makes messages play out of my earpiece even if I haven't held it up to my ear. So, I've disabled the feature, at least for now.

I guess that answers my question on what happens when you're trying to send a message and a message comes in.

You'd think it would at least wait for it to finish your message before interupting.

I leave it on, but their are times where I turn it off, such as during the nights, when I hit the bed. overall, I still love roger. the devs really are picking up the paste, and hopefully they will continue to do so.
