I live in the UK and have just become a member of RNIB Overdrive, the Royal National Institute of the Blind's download book service. I noticed yesterday that in their operating instructions it says that you cannot return books before the lending period is up when using Voice Over on the Overdrive app. There is a problem with the app which means that this function is not available. However, you can delete the the files on a book by going to <files> and then <delete> which is at the top of the iPhone screen next to the home button - apparently! The RNIB seem to suggest an Overdrive upgrade will be out soon but they recommend using the delete files facility. However, I don't see why you cannot turn off Voice Over and delete in the standard sighted way if you have a sighted person you can ask.
