Resetting an iPhone to transfer it to someone else

Hi,
I might be transferring one of my old iPhones to a family member who is not on any family sharing email address associated with my apple ID. A few years ago, I followed an online guide to reset and transfer my old iPad mini to someone, and man, what a messy ordeal that was! The family member who I might be transferring the iPhone to is fully sighted. Is there anything I need to do before I erase the iPhone so I can disassociate my apple ID with it? What happened when I gave the iPad mini to a family member was it kept popping up prompting for my apple ID. So I'm thinking if I can disassociate the old iPhone prior to the erase process, I'd be ok? What is the process these days for transferring an old iPhone to someone else?
Thanks,

Sign out of Icloud, and Apple, make sure you get whatever you want off, then reset all settings, It should erase everything. Hope that helps.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone should walk you through everything that's necessary to reset your iPhone back to a clean state.

When the recipient starts the iPhone, it will effectively be like starting and setting up an iPhone for the first time.

I've done this several times, and the process has always been straightforward.

Good luck ☺️

Also in your phone go to setting, your name and delete previous phone from your list. Even if you delete account from phone and reset to new, your phone will still show up there.

Don't forget to turn off find my iPhone. This will turn off activation lock. If you don't do this, the person will be asked for your Apple ID password when they attempt to set up the phone.

I'll recommend again that you simply go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.

The tool here will walk you through the whole process, including turning off Find My and removing the device from your account.

The process couldn't be simpler.
