I've been using it for quite a while. I had previously installed various other free alternatives, most of which would require you to purchase a full subscription or upgrade in order to make use of all of their various extensions, as opposed to the free version that would let you use only one of them at a time. These extensions include add blockers, adult content blockers and social media button hiders.
Firstly, I agree that WIPR is pretty nice. Yes, you have to pay for it, but it is a one time fee. I think it's like two dollars. Though, the add-on that Enes recommended sounds good too, so kudos for that.
There are a few iPhone settings that may also help with video ads. Try the following:
1. Go to settings greater than Safari, scroll down to Content blockers, and select the allow for all websites option. You can alternatively have them disabled for individual websites, but this guarantees that your add-ons are working properly for each website you visit.
2. Go to settings greater than general greater than picture in picture, and disable this.
3. Go to settings greater than accessibility greater than motion, disable auto play video previews.
With these three things done, you "should "have fewer video ads popping up on you.
It is in the General settings, about 6 items down (at least with iOS 17.4). If you open your Settings app, and then scroll down, or otherwise swipe right until you find General, double tap that and then from the top of that screen, you should get:
• About
• Software Update
• AppleCare & Warranty
• AirDrop
• AirPlay & handoff
• Picture in Picture
Double tap that last item, then turn it off. It is typically on by default.
Anyone saying (s)he couldn't find a particular thing in the Settings app can always type a few keywords in that lovely search bar right below the heading, AKA the window title, eliminating the need to type more words here for them and us alike.
