I'm considering buying an iPhone with only a data plan. Can I get a phone number at a low cost that people can use so I can still receive calls? I guess I'm thinking I'm wanting something like the Magic Jack for the iPhone.

this will work if you get a free google voice number and live in the US and or Canada. i use it with my iPad.

If I use the TalkaTone and Google Voice combo, would someone wanting to phone me have to first dial an access number, or can they just dial a standard area code and phone number to reach me? Also, can the iPad's internal mic be used when you make or receive calls with the iPad, or do you have to use a headset mic?

I don't know why? But that I understand, only with Data Plam is the same thing iPhone-iPod-iPad The only way who makes the difference is the specific apps for each iOS device.

Hi. If you get the Skype app, and then a Skype-in number along with Skype-out credit, you can do it that way. As long as you are signed in to Skype, anyone calling you should be able to ring you. I've never had a problem on my Skype account.

Would my iPhone ring when receiving calls through Skype, even if the screen is locked? Is it possible to be logged in all the time while your phone is on? Can you set up voicemail with Skype, and is there a caller ID feature? Thanks so much for the tip!!
