iOS and iPadOS

Good day, I do not get notified on my Iphone 6S when there is a Ios update available? How can I activate this feature? I have tried Google, and, no matter how I phrase the question it gives me about 100 ways to deactivate update notifications but not 1 to activate it!
Would appreciate some info.

It will eventually notify you automatically if you don't update. In fact, it may force you to update after a while but there is no update notification setting.

Hi,
I cannot think of anything you can do to get notifications about updating; however, you can do what I do since I am always curious about what's new and how Apple will make it work for me. You can go to settings, general, software, and it will inform you of whether your software is up to date or not.
Best regards,
Hala

Several iOS versions ago, before opening the settings area of the iDevice, if there was an update available, it used to indicate one new item. Unfortunately, that was removed quite some time ago. Why? Not sure on that one but would really like to see it return again. Sorry I don't have any other options to recommend other than keeping an eye on the software area of your device, as recommended above, or do what I do and keep an eye on this site.

Hi,
I actually saw what you talked about recently. It said one new item, I then went to settigs, general, software, and found that there was an update for IOS11.03
I think that the one new item note that you usually find on settings appear if you wait a while.

Hi,
the updates still appear in settings, but I usually check every so often thru either apple insider, or this site. This is how I usually get my scoop on updates.
