question on using Uber or Lyft in an apartment complex

Hello,
I don't know if there's any accessible way to fix this or not as I believe it requires adjusting the pin on the map. and I don't believe that part is accessible. I live in an apartment complex and when I'm using either Uber or Lyft (Lyft is particular worse about this) it will put my address as a range of addresses on my block. Even if I Edit the address it will still change it to a range. Is there an accessible way to adjust the pin so that the driver knows my exact address?
Thanks

When I use Uber or Lyft, I find that since my apartment complex takes up an entire city block here in San Francisco, it is better to choose a known and very visible nearby POI. I mark my starting destination using a local coffee shop or restaurant. Most drivers can see the signs for the entrance for these locations and stop more efficiently to pick me up. This also means fewer times I need to contact my driver to explain that I am visually impaired.

Hi there, accessibility specialist from Lyft here. Unfortunately there is no way to move the pin on the map when interacting with the app using voice over due to the purely visual and custom nature of the underlying code. The easiest and best thing to do is to either text or call the driver and give them very specific details as to where you want to be picked up. I do this all the time when at specific venues or places where I know that the pick up address may be a little vague or unclear to the driver. I always end up calling the driver anyways when getting a ride by myself to explain the fact that I am blind and will need assistance to their car when they arrive.

I can bring up the idea about apartment complex address detailing, and I do think there is potential to move towards that very much like the venues feature when getting picked up at a large stadium or airport with multiple exits and pickup spots. The quality of this will largely depend on the way the apartment complex is structured and how easy it is for a driver to pull up as close as they can to the apartment number.

Hi Marconius and others,
Thanks for your help. Please also bring up the feedback that unless I'm missing something here it seems that I can no longer view driver profiles with voiceover.

The driver and Line passenger profiles are totally broken right now, and it's been extremely frustrating. I forced them to move that fix up to a priority zero so it will be the first thing they fix before all the other issues we are working on. You are able to open the profile, but it takes quite a lot of spamming and double tapping. And it is much harder when there is a line passenger also on the page. When swiping through the page, you should hear driver profile twice followed by an unlabeled button and then the driver name. Tapping on the unlabeled button directly after the driver profile title will eventually open up the actual profile page. Somebody pushed this new design through without appropriate testing nor consulting me and we are cracking down on it.

Hi. One thing that I would really like Uber, and indeed a lot of other app developers to do is to give specific details about which bugs have been fixed in the latest release. With Uber, you get the same blurb about how they fix the app each week to give you the newest features. Well, we would kind of like to know exactly what those new features are, and what bugs have been squashed. Yes, we really do care about this stuff. So, I'm hoping that @Marconious can comment on this, and maybe put a suggestion forward for more helpful information about app updates. We VoiceOver users would really like to see some kind of a changelog, or something similar.

I'm already pushing for the way Lyft releases updates to be tweaked, and adding detailed release notes for the sake of accessibility is part of the conversation and it looks like it may actually happen in the near future. I also really dislike it when companies have really vague copy for their update text in the App Store… I try to point people to Slack or Eat24 that has whimsical but very informative copy about what exactly has been worked on for the update. Just make sure to keep your app fully updated as accessibility fixes will be Rolling out soon as the development teams get to them.

I'm not aware of any way to adjust it accessibly either. I really want some kind of solution because leaving and getting to work has somewhat of a greater chance of having me at an unfamiliar entrance to the building than I would like, and the bottom floor is largely empty, so I can't tell easily where I really ended up. I have to end up finding random sighted people coming by to try to hunt the car down when it's time to come home because unless I get familiar drivers, many are new to town here, and the gps will sent them in circles, with the address where I work not included on the map

Thanks for this. I'm seriously considering using Uber and/or Lyft in place of, or perhaps in addition to, paratransit. Both Lyft and Uber are available here in Chicago. Paratransit has worked out okay for me throughout recent years, but it does have its issues especially when on a schedule. So lately I've only been using paratransit to get to my parents' place to spend the night, much to the chagrin of some people including my parents. I haven't yet had time to check out very many iOS apps, but hopefully that'll change very soon.

Good day. I use lyft and it's excellent. I've had great drivers and although there was a time when I had drivers refuse me due to my Seeing Eye dog, Um, illeagle ya know, that hasn't happened in a long time. Drivers have been amazingly helpful and when I need a car Lyft has become my go too. Question, Will the watch app come back? I ran in to a situation where I left my iPhone on my desk at work and only had the watch. I needed a ride and was able to use the watch app. Both Uber and Lyft have taken there watch away. Dear Lyft, would you please bring it back?
