Question About Passcode Length

Hi everyone. Subject sums it up. I've been helping a sister learn her iPhone with VoiceOver, and we've run into some issues. For now I set up a passcode to unlock her phone. It is 6 digits like mine is, but unlike mine hers requires typing digits in a random order and the thing keeps timing out on us. This has also happened when her sighted tutor is over, and it is rather annoying. Is there a way to increase the amount of time in which one has to input a passcode? We're thinking of setting up Touch ID, but in order to do that one also must enter a passcode. My other question is this: is there a limit as to how long or short these passcodes can be? This sister has a coordination issue. Tia for any assistance.

Hi ekaj
You can change the length of a passcode on iPhone. Just go to settings, touch ID and passcode, change passcode, and passcode options. You should find this once you’re in the new passcode screen. There’s three options. There’s alpha numeric, which is letters and numbers, alpha numeric, which is the default six digit, and four digit numeric. you can try a four digit passcode for your sister. Or Try the alpha numeric and just make the passcode a Single or few letters. The only thing with the alpha numeric is that once you enter your passcode, you have to push return. It’s not like the numeric passcode, where you just enter the numbers and it unlocks. I have the alpha numeric on my phone. I like it but it may not be for everybody.
Hope this helps

Strange. I don't have a timing issue, I can wait 10 seconds inbetween key presses. Mine is also 6 characters in length. It never ever times out on me. And no ther eis no way to adjust timing so somethingn is sure up.
