Hi folks its Carlos,
I just down loaded face book messenger.
I found my cousin on it and I pressed the call botton.
When the call started my speaker turned of and I had to hear threw my iphone 6 speaker.
I could not make voice over talk or go in to speak phone or anything.
When my cousin ended the call then I was able to get voice over to talk again,
any help with this would be appreciated.
Also as fare as face book messenger,
I can not find a log out botton.
how can I sign out of the app?
I found a way to get to my face book profile in the more options and there was a logout there but that was in the regular face book.
When I went back in to the mmessenger I was still loged in.
Thanks for any help.
Carlos

Hi,

I'm assuming you mean the call and voiceover came through the earpiece, like a phone call does? I don't use Facebook calls often, but last time I just had to hold the phone close to my ear when tapping the screen and just do my best. VO would talk through the earpiece where the call is coming from but there has been updates since then so it could have changed.
As for logging out, you can't. I don't know why but there isn't a way to do it, apart from reinstalling each time you want to logout.

Hope this helps.

thank you,
i'll try to play with it some more,
and see if I can get voice over to talk while I'm on a messenger call.

Hi its Carlos,
well I tried using facebook messenger to call again.
When I make a call it goes in to phone mode when I take the phone away from my face the speaker does not turn on.
I can not click on anything I believe there is a speaker botton and a hang up botton but nothing works.
I pressed the home button wich starts voice over working but only in phone mode not as speaker.
I was able to go to the app swicher but I wasn't able to close the app,
but I might of tried sliding the wrong way.
Then I went back in to messenger and again voice over stoped talking and I couldn't do any commands on the screen.
Thanks for any suggestions folks.
And if you have encountered these problems with face book messenger and no of work arounds,
please let me know.

This is why I never use Messenger to make voice calls. It quite frankly, sucks? There is a way to log out of Messenger. I don't have it installed on my phone right now and cannot quite remember but I believe there are tabs at the bottom of the screen that say things like "contacts, people, games, home" and something else but I'm not remembering what that is. Anyway, you must remember each of these items do different things. The People tab for example can be used to see all people who have messenger installed and are your friends, and you can also filter people to see who is online. The home tab is where you will spend most time and it arranges messages by order of receipt, last received showing up first. It's sloppy at times. The calls tab, the one I forgot, shows a record of placed and received calls and let's you place calls. Somewhere in all of this is an accounts tab where you can switch accounts and log out. But it's hit and miss. My recommendation would be to enable or disable Messenger via the notifications screen in your settings app. You can double tap the notification for messenger on and off and make it as simple as that. Personally, I am not a fan of messenger and typically access my messages via my browser and http://mbasic.facebook.com If you have any questions about Facebook or Messenger feel free to contact me through the contact form or directly by emailing rexlesliehowardjr@icloud.com

If I want to hang up a call on messenger I hold down the power button until I get the slide to power off screen, then I hold the home button.

I don't know how you would do something like that on the iPhone X, since they no longer have a home button.

I'm sure there is a way.

I hang up calls this way because it's quicker than hunting for a button you might not always find.

As for it switching to phone speaker, I think that's an iPhone thing, not an app thing, because I've seen it happen in other apps.

Hello, guys:
I am using an iPhone X and when I have made a call via Facebook messenger, I just double tap with two fingers (magic tap). The same magic tap is used to answer a call.
I haven't had any problems with/or making phone calls.
Carlos, maybe you should try uninstalling messenger, close all apps and then restart your phone. Once you have restarted your phone, go to the App Store and re-download Facebook messenger. I hope that takes care of the problem you are experiencing with this app.
Good luck.
Cheers.
