Problem reading iBooks w/Voiceover

Hi again all. I have an iPhone 4S, and I am having problems reading iBooks usinv Voiceover. I have read books in the past, and haven't had a problem. However, when I try to use the two finger swipe from the top of the screen to start reading, Voiceover will read the current page, and then stop. I am also unable to use the three finger swipe to switch pages. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You need to swipe down while VoiceOver focus is on the text area, not the top of the iPhone screen. Find the book page and touch it so VoiceOver focus is on it, then do a two finger swipe down. There are a whole lot of buttons and other elements on the screen. The book doesn't actually start until part way down the screen, so you need to touch it first then do your two finger swipe down. As for the three finger swipe left and right to change page, I don't know what's going on here. Maybe the same thing (i.e. FoiceOver focus needing to be on the book page)?

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately, I'm still having the same problem. Very strange, as I have read books before, and have never had a problem.

I was just reading a book in iBooks and changed from Book to Scroll in the appearance section. It stopped reading randomly, and would skip sections of text. I changed back to Book, and it reads fine. I wonder if you are having a similar or related issue.

OK, I feel stupid, but where would I go to change this setting? I see no scrole or appearance settings anywhere, just a Library, and Table of Contents button, and a Bookmarks button.

It is a tough setting to find. I changed it on a whim, and then struggled to get back to it again. Here's how I can usually do it. I open a book. I find and double tap Appearance near the top right. In the Appearance box, I double tap Themes. At the bottom of the Themes box there are buttons for Book and Scroll. I double tap on Book. I really hope this helps since I'm putting you through a hassle if it doesn't.
