pressing buttons on the iPhone while in a phone call

I am still new with the iPhone. I made a phone call where I had to press a series of numbers to complete a prescription order. Sometimes the numbers I pressed were announced, other times I think the screen went dim. I never got it to work. My typing mode is where I lift a finger, then it is entered. What's the secret?
Thanks

Hello,

Yeah, pressing the numbers while on a call can be a bit tricky. You can do one of these.

Wear a headset. I find that VO speaking the numbers is a bit louder when you’re wearing a headset. Also, if you wear a headset, it will be a bit easier to enter the numbers since your hands are free to type in the number.

If you don’t want to wear a headset, try swiping left or right to find the numbers instead of direct type/touch. While you’re waiting for the other party to answer, find number 5 and be ready to swipe left or right as needed.

IF all else fails, do what I do. Press 0 and speak with a rep.

BTW, does your pharmacy or plan have an app? Most do now days and it will make things a bit easier.

HTH and good luck.

Another way to press numbers while on a call is to touch the screen, without lifting the finger. Drag your finger until you find the number and then lift up your finger. Repeat as needed.

Occasionally, You may not have the keypad available while on a call. There will however be a button on the screen to enable it.

So, if the problem is that you don't find the numbers, look for a keypad button, double tap it, and you will then have the keypad, and can proceed as others have already instructed.
