Pop up Lists and Phone annoyance

Hello: I have two issues I was hoping someone could help me with. I go to certain web sites that have popup lists, which I shall assume everyone is familiar with. I double tap on it to bring up the list, but when I flick up or down to go through the list, every time I land on a new item in the list, it is automatically selected before I can hit the "done" button or flick to the next item if that's not the one I want. I hope this makes sense. Also, does anyone know how to shut Voiceover up when you get a phone call? I will get a call and ansewr my phone, only to have my conversation interrupted by Voiceover blatting out information about the call every ten or so seconds. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, a number of people do have the problem where the Voice Over won't be quiet while you are on the phone. Sadly, the only solutions I've seen is do a triple fingers double tap to silent her during the call. After the call you will need to do the gesture again to turn the Voice Speak back on. Sorry, not to have a better answer for you.
I'm also having the same problem on certain websites with regard to making a choice in a list: I don't have the opportunity to go through the options because I'm taken to the choice I moved to. Maybe some pages might not be designed to adapt to the iPhone, or the new version of iOS could be the issue. I was considering contacting Apple Accessibility to ask them if they know what's occurring, because I'd like to use two websites for school-related reasons. I have trouble with a pop-up button on one page, and I think both pages jump to an option in a list without warning. I'm happy to say that the phone problem isn't that bothersome--you can try to move the phone away from your ear when you're speaking to someone, and flick to the number pad. I'm hoping that will resolve the dilemma. Good luck.
This is pretty easy, actually. You can: 1. Move to another app or even another tab within the phone app. 2. Lock the screen. 3. Either double tripple-tap or tripple tap the home button to stop speech. Note, though, that this last option will stop the reading of alerts or banners that might come in.
