Hello, all! Hope all is well!
Hope every one is enjoying IOS. 16. I'm sitting here twitching with impatience because I CANNOT wait for Oct. to come, so, that I can FINALLY get a taste of all the goodies! Although, I have been monitoring the various blog posts regarding IOS. 16. But, being that I have only my trusty Ipad, I have to wait until next month. :-( But, anyway...
I'm looking for a recommendation for a podcatcher that will give me recommendations for podcasts similar to one that I'm either looking up or listening to. I've often found some WONDERFUL shows, and, just like with a lot of things, I've naturally wanted to look and see if there were any similar shows to the one I was looking at/listening to. Ideally, I'd like something like this:
Say I was looking at the Get Booked podcast page, I could flick down by heading, and see something something like: "Similar podcasts" or something. This is just an example.
As much as I'm not a fan of Apple's Podcast app, if I have to, I could use it in this way, find some shows that look interesting, and then go see if they're available on say, iCatcher or something.
I'd appreciate any help/recommendations you guys could give me! :-)

Overcast has suggestions
I don't know if that works for you, but I recently discovered suggestions for you tab in add podcast window in overcast and found lots of podcasts about accessibility that I didn't know like Airacast, tek talk or double tap!
Re: Overcast has suggestions
Hello! I'm not sure either. I guess it'd be one of those things that I'd have to try and see. Where is that? I mean which part of Overcast is it in? Do you have it on every podcast's page? Like, if you looked up, Airacast, double-tap on it, and scrolled down by heading, would you see something like: "Suggestions" and then see Double-tap after that? Because, if that's the case, then that'd be what I was looking for!
If not, it sounds like something similar, how I understand it.
On a sidenote: thank you for the podcast recommendations by the way. I think I'll have to go and look up Airacast. I'm like you, and I'm ALWAYS on the hunt for new podcasts on accessibility and assistive tech in general as well as blindness and blind-related topics/issues/news.
Only on the one screen
The suggestions are only available from the “Add Podcast” screen, not from specific podcasts.
It does seem to work quite well though. I looked at about the first 50 suggestions listed, and all seemed to be reasonable/relevant based upon what I already follow.
Overcast
Using overcast and do not care for their recommendations, is limited. I tend to need to do a search for what I like. The one I found it was not even suggested by it.
Breaker and PodBean
I was surprised this feature wasn’t in every app/player so I had this very question and since I didn’t find anything online I ended up downloading 10+ to see which ones did. Here’s what I found:
Breaker has a row of “related” shows on each show page and is the closest I have found to “shows like…”
Podbean lists suggestions but they don’t show up on the show page, you have to play an episode and they show up below the player. These seem more like discovery based on my listening habits + the current show though.
I hope this helps somebody :)
Stitcher
Apologies if this has already been suggested, but Stitcher, might, be a possible solution. Admittedly it has been some time since I actively used it, but I seem to remember it being incredibly easy to find shows based on my interests and I enjoyed the way you could, stitch, one show/episode into another show/episode seemlessly.
It also had a nice feature where it would remember the last place you were at in any given podcast. I guess comparitively it is like the Audible app, where Audible rmembers your book position.
HTH. 😊
Apple's Podcast app
I think Podcast app is having issues since iOS 17, if I am not mistaken. ☹
There's r/audiodrama
It's a sub reddit.
I'd recommend the old reddit website or dystopia for IOS or reddit for blind for windows if you want to check that out, you can ask for suggestions there, people are pretty good at that there.
Pocket Casts is also a solid…
Pocket Casts is also a solid option, offering curated recommendations based on your listening habits. Castbox and Spotify are worth checking out too, as both have good recommendation systems and user-friendly interfaces.
Even though you're not a big fan of Apple's Podcast app, it does have a "You Might Like" section that suggests similar podcasts. You could always use it to find new shows and then listen to them on iCatcher or another preferred app
