Observation with my new iphone

Hello,
I wanted to make a quick observation regarding my brand new iPhone 15 Pro.
The other day, I had to restart it for some reason. When I did, I used the volume up, volume down, power button method. This did not result in the power on and off sounds playing.
In a different instance, I restarted it by turning the phone off and back on, which did play the sounds after I enable them.
Is it normal to have to enable those sounds?
Why wouldn’t they play if you use the volume button method?
Has anyone else made this same observation?

Sorry,. I'm no help in this discussion. I turned off the power on/off sounds as soon as I could web search how to do it. They always played at max volume and never respected the mute switch.

I left those chimes enabled. I think they're handy. Ya know, the more I've used the iPhone the more I agree that these things are life-changing for us. I mean, there are just so many cool uses for them. The iPhone is most definitely a "Swiss army knife". It seems some people in my locale don't particularly like me saying that, but it's so true.

And just think, in a couple years they'll be better or a new thing will come out, and a couple years after that, more new things will come out, tech is amazing!

I only owned an iPhone 15 Pro for a brief time, and while I will try not to reiterate my experience with that POS device, I will say that it was likely a software and/or firmware glitch that caused the sounds not to work as expected. 🤷

I don’t think it is a glitch. The shutdown sound is played as part of the process your phone goes through when you shut it down using the normal method. When using the volume up method, the phone doesn’t go through it shut down process and immediately restart Because usually using the for your method is only used when you have a significant problem where you can’t shut down the phone. The volume up method should only be used if you are unable to shut down the phone from the power off screen

Ok tested this. It seems that Peter is correct. Powering off brings the sounds into play. However, a hard reset does not. So, even if you press volume up then down and power but don't continue to hold the power button the power off screen comes up and tapping the button turns the phone off but does not hard reset it and then you get the sounds.

The only way I know to shut off the phone is:
vol up, vol down, side button. Then double-tap the power off. Are there other ways or a faster way to shut down? Oh ya, I have an iPhone 14.

You can turn off an iPhone by holding down the Side button with either of the volume buttons, and then double-tapping the Power off button. Keep in mind, however, that this button is adjacent to the button that contacts emergency services after a brief countdown, so make sure you're pressing the correct one if you're turning off your iPhone this way. Also, if you're not intending to contact emergency services, be sure to release the Side and volume buttons immediately after feeling the haptic, as continuing to hold them down will automatically start the emergency SOS countdown. More information about this feature can be found in Settings > Emergency SOS.

Alternatively, you should be able to turn an iPhone off using Siri, or by going to Settings > General > Shut down.
