I know I've spoken about this before, but the solution to this still eludes me. I can not tell you guys the number of times I've played this level of the game, and I still get eaten. You've got the giant chess board, and I understand the idea, because I've heard the beginning naration thing as many times as I've played the level. The silent squares are wood, and the noisy squares are metal. You can step on wood to lose the hog. roar! he won't hear your steps. I can quote that in my sleep i've heard it so much! Ok, so let me explain to you guys exactly what I'm doing, and maybe one of you can set me right on this topic here! Ok. so in my headphones, when the humming noise of the note starts playing, its in my left ear, so I center it by swiping a bit, and then I walk towards it in the usual way. Sometimes, I can get to the note and grab it before the hog gets me, and sometimes, just after grabbing the note, even before I can hear the second note begin to play, is when I get eaten. It sounds like what I might have to do is lure the hog away from the note, and get him to follow me, and then race back to the note to grab it. My trouble is I'm not fast enough, and I get eaten. There were a couple times I played and I got lucky enough to even get the second note, but this was rare. Does anyone have any tips I can use to pass this level of the game? Like I say i've played it literally thousands of times, and that's no exageration. I would really like to finish the ggame but have been stuck on this for ages. What on earth am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Two issues stand out in your approach. First, don't walk to the note, run. Second, when you get the note, don't stop. Keep going until you get to the wood. Also, I've sometimes gotten eaten if I stay right on the edge of the wooden square. Keep walking for a few steps, so you're a bit more towards the middle. It's taken me a few times to figure out this level, but now it is one of my favorites to replay.
Hi. That's actually really helpful advice. I thought about running, but wasn't sure since I might stand the chance of falling. but i'll give that a shot! Thanks so much!
Greetings, One thing to keep in mind is that the game is 3D audio. I realize it sounds really obvious, almost to the point of why is he bothering to put that here when it's in the game description?, but it's very important. Since you're in a 3D setting, you have more than one way to reach the note. In previous levels, the direct path to the note was the best one to take. When you got noisy and attracted the hog, you just ran for it. You can do this on the chess board, and you'll probably succeed, but running the direct path won't help in future levels. I won't go into specifics so as not to ruin your enjoyment of the game, but my point is that the chess board is preparation for coming levels where you have to think beyond running. After all, it is a chess board, and strategy is key there.

well, i've tried running, and I keep tripping, just as I thought I would. I do understand about taking a different path to the note, instead of it just being a straight line like in earlier levels. I did get 2 of the notes once before I was eaten, so i'm making some progress! Thanks for the hints, guys. if anyone has any others I'd gladly listen. It's a fun game, but sometimes these things are just tough enough that you can't pass them without help. I appreciate it for sure!

The trick with running is to figure out how fast you can tap without falling. Also, after you run to a square, the hog will go back to sleep righ t behind you. If you here the note back behind you also, you can't go directly to the note, because the hog will easily catch you as you run past. What I do is I turn left or right, and then run the next square over. That puts the note on my side, and the hog behind me. I can then go direct to the note. Hope this helps.

Hi, like you, it took me an extremely long time to finally beat this level. However, I haven't played it in awhile and so can't remember how I did it. I do have a tip for you on running though. To keep from tripping, you have to find a steady rythm. This is more important than worrying about being fast, and after awhile you'll be able to speed up quite a bit.

I never got this far in this game when it was available, never got passed the hog patrol.

It was a travesty when these went away. Both of them were great, but in some ways, I think that the original was even better. It was certainly creepier in my mind.
