My iPhone refuses to sync with iTunes on my pc

Hello,
I have some custom-made ringtones which I’d like to sync to my iPhone.
I understand that there is currently a bug in iOS 17.0 through 17.0.3, which prevents this.
As a result, I have updated both my iPhone and iPad to the beta of 17.1.
Under 17.1, beta two, The iPad synchronized the ringtone I wanted, and all is well.
On the iPhone, however, it’s an entirely different story. Running the exact same version of the software, iTunes refuses to sync.
Has anyone else seen this, and may be able to explain what’s going on here? I was on the phone for a while last night with Apple Accessibility and we ran some tests, but all tests passed. The file they wanted to create kept failing though. iTunes exited before the file could be created.

I no longer connect to iTunes. If I add a album, it shows in my iPhone sane for ringtone. I now go to iTunes, library, and sincing. No cable connection.

Hello,
Can you please elaborate a bit more on what you mean when you describe the process you went through to sync your custom ringtones?
I'm not exactly clear on what you mean.

I have them in a external hard drive and when I uploaded as each tone, it play and I was able to go to library, and cince it. If you have issues with using the cable, suggest sign out and sign in again to see. Did you check if your iTunes is a new version?

I don't know if this is related. I recently ran diagnostics under help in iTunes for windows. I tunes failed to connect to my phone which was hooked up with the lightning cable. I'm not sure what the problem is. I read help on Apple and followed all the steps, but still have the same results of connection issues. Perhaps this is happening to you too.

Hello everyone,
Thank you to those who responded to my issue.
I ended up figuring it out, by trial & error as well as some Google searching.
What had happened, was that the, "manually manage music & videos" checkbox, under the "summary" section, wasn't checked.
Once I checked it, everything synced as it should.
