On the off chance that somebody uses any of these, I thought I'd ask. Not just a tuner app that generates tones, but you know, a tampura, shruti box, stuff like that. In other words, drones you can play over musically. I'm not coming across anything, but I'm guessing they exist and I'm just not hitting the right terms. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

It's a bit of a fidlly idea but.
Could you use youtube for now? I understand that's not ideal but drone stuff exists on there and might be useful until you find what you're looking for?
I can.
In fact there are even drones for specific instruments, e.g. dam for duduk. I just figured something on the phone would be pretty handy. That's especially true since I have a lightning to 3.5 adapter, so I could run it into my audio interface and record with it too. I can probably figure out a way to do that with Youtube as well ,but phone would be a lot more straightforward.
Oh definetly.
I hope someone can help you out with an app.
Check out the MyNoise app
They have a drones category.

Thanks for the recommendation.
I haven't messed with it in actual practice, but it does let me set up the surpeti and pick a pitch. So it should work fairly well, I'd imagine. I might try to find something a little simpler, since this is so focused on singing, but now I have something that should do the job. Pretty cool.
