Hi AppleVis,

Our calendar app has always received high praise for its accessability and VoiceOver features.
The natural and simple way of presenting days and events in Month Calendar is particularly useful for VoiceOver users. Something that was brought to our attention early from users and we have since taken great care to support accessability features in the app.
We just released a major update to the app so I felt this was the right time to reach out.

We would like to tell the AppleVis community about our app. But also we are very interested in learning more and getting your feedback on ideas for improvements.
It is our goal to be the best calendar app for everybody. And it is our firm belief that ensuring that our app works great with VoiceOver and Accessibility features has only made it a better app for everybody.

We would like to give away some promo codes for the app. And we hope you will leave us feedback, here on this post, or directly to us at procrasty@procrasty.com.

Thank you for reaching out to our community and for letting us have an opportunity to try your app.

I was lucky enough to grab one of the promo codes, and so far am really liking this app. If it stays that way, this could well replace Fantastical as my GoTo calendar!

Great, we are very happy to hear that. Fantastical is a great calendar app as well. Let us know if you find some sharp edges, or even bugs :-)

It would be great if one of the people who grabbed a free copy of this app would submit it to our App Directory.

Many thanks!

Many thanks, also, to the developer for their commitment to making their app accessible to VoiceOver users and for sharing the promo codes with our community.

We hope that there will be some great feedback and suggestions for further improvements.

Hello,

I have played with this app for a few minutes and have found it to be quite intuitive as well as highly accessible. I like having the timings of sunrise and sunset for one's location linked with every single day of the year. Supposedly it also displays information about various phases of the moon but I have not yet discovered where to find these data. Thanks enormously to the app developer for making this app so accessible.

Hello, is there another code I can use? Thanks

By Hiroyuki Shinagawa on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

I was looking for the app like this. It's easy to check the event title!

By Month Calendar on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

We are very pleased to hear all you feedback thank you very much.
Please email us directly if you need a promo code, we have some left. But if we just post them, we are not sure who gets them. So email to procrasty@procrasty.com
With regards to the question on moon phases, there is an additional cell in the day view for the phases of the moon (full moon, last quarter, new moon, first quarter). In the month view we have an icon for it as well, but we have chosen to not add this to the VoiceOver in month view.
You need to turn it on in settings in the 'Sun and Moon' section.

Again thanks to all of you.

Hello, Svend,

I have checked the preferences section, and the option to have the phases of the moon displayed is definitely on. However, I still do not see this information anywhere. Could something about this feature be done in a future release of the app? Once again, thank you for a wonderful app.

A question about premium calendars, buy one subscription once or I have to pay every year or month for that?

By Fredrik Andersson on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

Another question, how VoiceOver detects flag days, for example, Swedish National Day, which we celebrate in Sweden?

By Month Calendar on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

In reply to by Rajesh Malik

For Voice Over users, the moon phases are currently only available in the day details view and only on days with full or half phases.

We will look into improving this in the future.

- Nicolai

The premium calendars are a subscription service that you can buy for either 12 months or for 3 months.

After the given number of months the premium calendars stop being available and you need to pay again if you want to continue to get the premium calendar information.

The subscriptions will ever only extend manually. Month Calendar will try to remind you but will never automatically extend a subscription.

All the normal functionality in Month Calendar is available without any subscription. The subscription is for premium calendars such as sports matches and scores, extra and local holidays calendars, name days, etc.

Apple provides built-in information about the national bank holidays including a few other local holidays. These follow the reginal setting (not the language) of the iPhone or iPad.

In Month Calendar this can be enabled or disabled in the settings, calendars, near the buttom, a calendar called "Svenska helgdagar" if regional settings is sweden.

Another alternative if the Apple provided calendar does not provide enough holidays is the Premium Calendars in Month Calendar. They require a subscription from within Month Calendar but will enable you to subscribe to a wealth of different calendar information such as holidays for a lot of regions and religions, sports events and even Swedish namedays.

Ok. I'll try to explain a little better what I mean. Holidays, I see no problems but some days hoisted the flag, for example, when the king's birthday. In some calendar apps see an image of a flag these days. This image is not detected by VoiceOver what I notice.

By Month Calendar on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

Hi Fredrik,
I am not sure what these other apps do. Could you give me an example of an app that does this?
For Month Calendar what is available to us for VO reading is the event text. So if the flag information is not added in the event text somehow, Month Calendar cannot pick it up either. You can check the Apple Calendar app. If the flag is there, then it should be part of the event text and available to Month Calendar as well.
Also you are very welcome to send us information directly on email if that is easier.
And sorry for the late reply, I have been traveling a bit :-)

Hello sir, Thank you very much for this accessible app for the blind and immediate responses for our questions.

I'd like to request you, if you could make this feature accessible, I'd be much happier, I'd like to know no moon day and also full moon day if possible.

By Month Calendar on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

Hi Raaj,
It is our pleasure Raaj.
We have added this request to our list.
Thank you very much for your feedback.

The only reason I haven't done much with my calander is because of the siri intergration! I am curious, if I asked siri to add an event to my calander, would she be able to do this using your app? Thanks, and i'm going to be looking into this for new management of my appointments.

By J.R. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

This app sounds interesting. Since I can't seem to get google on myy phone because it says the username or password is invalid even though I log in on the web, would this program work with google calendar to get alerts and notifications and even put new appointments in to the calendar? I think I've seen this name somewhere.

By Andrew on Thursday, September 25, 2014 - 07:22

Hello Dev,

I noted when using your app, that when you decide to add an event to a specific date and you tap on the add button, the screen for input appears just as it does in the stock calendar application. However, when I go to add invitee's to the event I am adding, no "add contact" button appears in your application, like it does in the stock IOS calendar application. So, one is not able to add or invite others from their contact list to the event. Do you plan to fix this in an up coming update? Also, I thought it would be nice if you could add the start time of the event, with the event title that is already shown in the calendar view of your application. This is something that the stock IOS calendar application doesn't do and I would find very useful. Just a thought. I look forward to your response. Thank you. -Andrew-

Apple does not allow any integration with Siri from other apps than their own.

However, Month Calender reads all event information from the built-in calendar. So all events visible in the built-in calendar is visible in Month Calendar and the other way around.

This also means that events created with Siri are to be found in Month Calenda.

Month Calendar reads all events from the built-in calendar database.

To access your google calendar from your iPhone you need to add the google account in settings.

From the home screen go to settings. Go to "email, contacts, calendars". Activate "add account". Choose "google"

After this, your google calendar is available on your iPhone and can be accessed from Month Calendar.

By J.R. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 - 07:22

I've tried these steps, and I always get that the username or password is invalid even though I can log in elsewhere via PC. So I can't add it. Someone said I should change my password, but I can't do that either, it says something about reauthenticating with two-factor. So I don't know what to do, but I would like access to my google calendar.

Hi Andrew,

I just tested what you said and for me I get the exact same behaviour in the stock iOS calendar and Month Calendar. Are you on iOS8?
When adding a new event, scroll further down to the 'Invitees', tap that. Now the keyboard appears and you can start typing to search. Or press the + sign just below the 'Done' to launch into a Contacts browser.
Are you not getting the same, or am I not understanding what you mean.

Very best

Svend

Hello!
How does Monthcall2 work with braille is it better than the stuck calendar app?
Can Monthcall2 also show a list of events like a list of every single event I create from my calendar on my Mac? It's synced via iCloud.
Will it also support exchange-calendars?
Best regards
Thomas

By Month Calendar on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 - 07:22

Hi Thomas,

Wrt adding and editing events Month Calendar is very similar to the stock calendar app from Apple. So I am afraid it is pretty bad for braille users. My guess would be that Fantastical is the best for this usage.

Month Calendar syncs with all the calendars you have set up in iOS. We use that central calendar database for everything. So events added in Month Calendar is available in the stock calendar app (and many others calendar apps) and vice versa. So given that iOS supports Exchange calendars so does Month Calendar.

Please reach out to us directly and I'll be happy to supply you with a promo code.

Best regards,

Svend
