Hi,
I have the Apple Mail app set to preview five lines of a mail. I'm finding the preview behaviour to be very erratic since updating to iOS18 in that some mails it will read out the preview but others it won't! I use the All Inboxes view and if I back out to the Mailboxes screen and then go back into All Inboxes, those mails which were previously silent are now having their preview read out.
In case it was a VO refresh issue, I've turned VO off and on again but this doesn't make any difference.
Is anyone else experiencing this, please, and/or does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it?
Thanks
Richard Bartholomew

Maybe the messages aren’t downloaded?
I’ve seen this behavior in my junk mailbox when there are messages that haven’t been downloaded to your device.
A byproduct of this is when you click on the message, instead of the message being displayed, you may get the text loading.
DOWNLOADED MAIL
Thanks for this suggestion...I hadn't thought of that before so went off to test/verify. As far as I can tell, the mail is already downloaded as I don't hear any comment saying that it's being downloaded when opened and there is no mention at the end of the mail that more is to be downloaded. In fact, from memory, even when I have had the rare mail which needs downloading, the preview is spoken before I open it.
Also, if it were a download issue, switching out of the All Inboxes view and back in again (without opening the mail), I would expect the preview still to be silent whereas the previously silent preview now speaks.
Good suggestion but don't think this is the issue, unfortunately.
