Hi all,
I hope you are staying cool (or warm) depending on where you live. Here in my area, temps are in the '90s, with heat indicies in the tripple digits. So, suffice it to say, we're baking like cookies. But, I digress.
I'm looking for an email client for IOS/Ipad-OS with the following features.
I do some disability advocacy work/volunteering for a grassroots advocacy organization in my state. I started a new role which is hosting the Accessibility Accommodations Committee. Which is why I'm writing this. Because I need/want a few apps that can do various tasks, like the one I'm posting about.
I'm looking for an email client for IOS/Ipad-OS. with the following features. I have a Gmail account, and, it's tied to my Mail app, and, I have the Gmail app as well. But, here's the features and/or specs I need.
1. Easy or easier thread navigation
2. Allows me to set up a few inboxes, such as an inbox for the Accessibility Accommodations committee, ones for the other committees I'm on/a part of that's NOT VIP. and have any pertaining to those inboxes go there automatically I'd also like to set up an inbox for general advocacy stuff as well.
3. I also want these emails showing up in my regular inbox and if appliceable, my VIP. box as well.
4. Allows me to set up different notification sounds for those mailboxes/inboxes. I'd also like to have a VIP. inbox as well, as the ability to set a different notification sound for it.
5. Must have good and easy management of multiple accounts. Because my goal, is at some point, I'm thinking of setting an email account for Breaking Silences or at least this committee. That way, agencies or what have you can just have one central email address they can use, if there's any questions.
Lastly, I prefer something with a free tier, !r free, or a one-time purchase purchase, I'm even opening that to a lifetime subscription.
Thank you in advance! :-)

Re: Looking for email client
Hello. Like you, I would also like a better email client. I like many of the features you listed. In addition, I would also like the ability to use VoiceOver rotor actions to quickly do different tasks, such as reply, reply all, forward, delete the thread, and perhaps a "More" item that contains an item to move the message to a certain folder/mailbox, along with the other options one would find in the More screen. I have tried several email apps and haven't found the perfect one. The ones I tried were Outlook, the Gmail app, and the native iOS Mail. Of those, the native Mail app had most of what I'm after. It is far from perfect. While there are some filter options, those only allow filtering of messages by the To or CC field, or to show only unread messages. Ideally, I would love to see an app that offers many of the features of the web-based Gmail (in basic view since that's what I have successfully used for over 15 years), but have yet to find one that checks all the boxes. If anyone on AppleVis is interested in developing such an app, I would happily be a beta tester, :)
So would I! And glad to know
So would I! Also, I'm glad that I'm not the only one looking for these things! It's definitely nice knowing you're not crazy!
PC for now
It looks like it's the PC for now. I do not know of any app that will do what you want.
Back in the day, I had the perfect e-mail program that did what you wanted. It was called Calypso. I really miss that program!
What about Sanebox?
Hi, it's not an email client, but I use Sanebox, or, in two words, Sane Box ... I use it to filter all the email I don't need or want to see, lots of newsletters and bill-related emails and I can have two accounts on there. I have been using it for years and the setup on PC is actually really accessible. I have an old plan, I was told by the support team, but it's so worth the price, I think about 70 bucks a year. You could get it to filter your emails into different folders at least. You can have it filter by any number of criteria, I have mine filtered with different domains going to different folders if they have certain subjects. I suppose there might be a way for Gmail to do this sort of thing, but I found the Gmail app to be unusable starting about a year ago. It doesn't unfortunately solve the sound issue you mentioned, but I wonder if you could somehow maybe use Sanebox as the filtering system and then find an app that might give you different sounds for mail coming in on your phone? That's actually something that I wouldn't mind either as I have 3 email accounts and knowing where they are by sound would be nice. Anyway, sorry it's not a mail app, but just thought I'd throw it out there as a suggestion.
Stay cool, and if you bake like a cookie, make it an oatmeal raisin one, won't you? Grin
Dave
Outlook for iOS
Outlook for iOS meets all of your needs.
It literally has all the functionality you’re looking for and is free. It’s available on iPhone and iPad. It is fully accessible and with a little practice, very very easy to use.
RE: Outlook For IOS.
Hello! I'll have to look into that! Does Outlook allow you to sync your Apple contacts and calendar? Because I'd like to sync them. I'd like it to go both ways, both IOS syncing with Outlook, and Outlook syncing with IOS. I'll look into it. I'm still interested in what others have to say though.
Outlook
I don't know about the different sounds requirements, but I know Outlook can sort inboxes the way you describe.
Outlook does allow you to sync Contacts and Calendar
Outlook does allow you to sync contacts and Calendar. It actually tends to work better than many other male client applications. It isn’t perfect. However, It is as close as you’re going to get. And it’s actually very very close. Pretty much on that line.
