looking for an accessible news app

I need suggestions for accessible news apps for the iPhone that pushes out notifications for national and world news stories, as well as stories for my local area.

I've been using SmartNews for a while but unless I just don't subscribe to the right things it seems like a lot of the stories I see lately are tabloid stories, I want real news stories from all categories.

Hi there!

I have several different news apps including Smart News, NFBNewsline, Lire, Breaking news, Microsoft News, and I'm sure a couple that I'm forgetting.

I have 2 favorites that I use on a fairely regular basis. I don't look @ the news as much as I used to, because I've been on an extended news hiatus, but, I use these apps more than the others. I'll only mention one of them however, because I think it fits the bill. I think Google News will meet your criteria, and check all or at least most of your boxes. Also, I'd be surprised to hear that they DIDN't have a news source. I switched from Apple News to that, and I've loved it! It's fully VO. supported, including rotor functions, and chances are, that you already have a Google account, which, makes transitioning pretty seemless! I don't use notifications, right now, from them, but, I do know they have them. That might change once Ipad-OS. 15 drops though. But, Google News is free, and accessible.

My advice, is, to stay away from your local news stations apps. I know I could be wrong, but, in my experience, mine were not very accessible. So, I ended up deleting them, and switching to a news agragator like Google News.

I'll take a look at google news, I use gmail so it shouldn't be a problem to set up.

You're right, I've tried 3 different apps from local tv stations and they range from not accessible at all to what I think applevis calls accessible only if you're willing to work with it. I'm not enough of a news hound to deal with that though, if apps aren't accessible out of the box so to speak I try to avoid them.
