I just purchased an iPhone 6 and was sad to discover that when I opened Light Detector today, there was no sound. All Voiceover says is, "zero percent," and double-tapping that does nothing. It worked fine under iOS 7 on my iPhone 5. This app is great and I really need it to work again. Is it broken for anyone else? The developer hasn't updated it in a couple years, so I'm worried that this won't be resolved.

Re: Light detector isn't working in iOS 8 on an iPhone 6
You must allow the app access to the camera. If you were not presented with a dialogue asking if you wanted to do this after launching the app, go to settings/Privacy/Camera and enable light detector. That said, I have only tried this on a 5S. If that doesn't work on the 6 then perhaps its hardware related? HTH
Light detector
I checked that it was enabled under privacy, camera but it still does not work on my iPhone 5. It worked under iOS 7.
Contacted the developer
Thank you for the validation and the good information. I'm glad to know that it's a software issue, not hardware. I just emailed the developer to ask them to fix it, but I'll reply again and let them know that it doesn't have to do with the fact that I have an iPhone 6. Thanks again. I will post here if they reply.
it works here
Hello,
Light Detector is working perfectly fine here on my iPhone 5S running iOS 8.

Hello Jessie,
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. The Light Detector appears to be not working for any of the iPhone 6 and 6+ users. It does continue to work on other devices. So there will need to be an update from the developer to make this work for those on the iPhone 6 and 6+ devices.

iPhone 5 and light detector
Light detector does not work on my iPhone 5 even though I restored my iPhone. I reset the camera settings to allow it, but with no success.
Light Detector Update
Hello everyone!
Earlier today, I contacted the developer of Light Detector, and received a response back. Here's a brief snippet of the message I got back, regarding an update to the app:
"We are aware of a bug preventing Light Detector from working on iOS 8 and a new version addressing this issue is currently under approval by Apple.
Thanks, regards!

I have no idea, typically, how long it takes for Apple to approve apps, or their updates, but I'm guessing within the next 1 to 2 weeks, we should all be listening to light again!
FYI, for anyone who wishes to contact the developer, regarding any of their apps, their eMail address is:
