Let's make Apple unlock the Siri voice!

Currently Apple locks the Siri voice only to the operating system functions. It is a reasonable decision as some app could impersonate Siri and try to steal the sensitive personal data.

However, it is not reasonable that the user cannot unlock Siri voice for other apps if he checks some setting and confirms in the dialog that he is aware of the listed problems that may arise from such an action.

That would bring huge value to many apps. I am the developer of one such app (Speech Central) whose users frequently ask on how to use Siri voice with it. But there are many very popular apps that would have benefit from it, top of the mind it would be Google Maps and nearly all accessibility focused apps.

If you find that this is helpful to you or to some people that you may know, please join me in asking Apple to do this. You can do that using the Apple's feedback assistant, the web link to it is: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/ . In the header of that page there is the write icon that is used to start the feedback process. Just tell in your own words that you would like the setting to unlock the Siri voice for all apps to people that confirm that they are fine that after that some apps might use the Siri voice into tricking them that it is Siri.

Also as the viewing of the feedback is locked to Apple please also write here a short reply if you think that this idea would be useful.

The Voice Dream suite, Voice Dream Reader and Voice Dream Writer, has 16 iOS voice choices for use including Samantha which is the Siri voice according to general information.

While I appreciate your comment I am not sure that it was constructive.

If you say something like "Samantha which is the Siri voice according to general information." - it is technically and objectively far far far from truth. I am not sure if they have a single thing in common - at first you would say that at least both are female voices but even that is not truth as Siri exists as both female and male voice.

Also I am not sure do you try to irritate me by suggesting me to use Voice Dream Reader that has nothing to do with Siri voice and there is nothing specific in the fact that it can use 16 iOS voices, at least hundred apps can do that, and I clearly said above that I am developer of another app that competes with Voice Dream Reader by offering the similar feature set (each app has overall similar feature set and its pros and cons but Speech Central is 3x cheaper for unlimited use and free for limited use).

My bad Labsii, I am not trying to irritate you. Lol

I rarely read an entire post that goes on like War and Peace but gathered you were looking for apps that used “Siri” voices. I named one that uses a bunch of them. If that isn’t helpful then carry on...

Sure, not a problem. I can’t say I was irritated however it did sound wrong that I had to stress it. Also of note I’ve seen in another thread that you use text-to-speech for the web content. If there is anything where Speech Central easily beats any other app it is the web reading. Please give it a chance, it has a free tier so you don’t have to invest anything except your time to check it. Thanks.
