iPhone/iPad volume issues

On my iPhone and IPad for a while now the volume has been acting really weird, it is at a level and then when I recieve a message or an e-mail the volume shoots up! It also shoots up if I'm listening to some music or a podcast and I skip forward/back 15 seconds or change the track position. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am glad you mentioned this. Sound levels on my 5S do occasionally increase in volume when unexpected. I'd say at least once a day, if not more. Initially, I thought it might have to do with audio ducking, but that no longer seems to be the case. I always use ear pods and frequently use a BT keyboard. I will confess that I have been hoping it the sound level surprises would go away with IOS 9.

Ah glad I'm not the only one. I have friends with the same issue, some not using voiceover so maybe a more general issue. Like you say hopefully it will be fixed in IoS 9

Hi, I don't seem to have problems like this, but may I do, and just haven't taken note of it. The problem I'm having with audio ducking is that when I start audio playing, sometimes the audio won't be very loud. This seems to happen when voiceover is running. A two finger dubble tap, magic tap to stop, then start the audio playing again seems to fix the problem, but its something i have to do when I start a different peace of audio.
Intrestingly enough, this problem affects a lot of app, but nto all of them, voice dream doesn't seem to be affected by this. Also, there is one app where a magic tap doesn't fix the problem, this is the music app, I am trying apple music, and the only way to get audio to the volume where it should be is to toggle voiceover off and on again.
This is happenning on my iPhone 5s, my girlfriend's iPhone 5, and might be a problem on my iPad, I will check later today.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Turn VoiceOver on and off. They will be fixed every time, until the bug happens again. I believe it happens more often for some than others, maybe it has to do with how much you use audio ducking. I suggest emailing accessibility@apple.com telling them about the audio ducking issues, so they can fix the problems.

Thanks for the tip, that's what I do. Will try that. Email. Lets see if it makes it to 8.4.1?

Yes, I did, and I hardly ever use audio ducking

Yep all the time for me. It seems to be VO specific. Sometimes I'll start a song playing and skip to another song and the volume will drop. When I skip a little back or forward to fix it, audio ducking gets toggled off.

It never seems to happen when voiceover is off, though.

Hi. Just wanted to say that sometimes getting notifications will make the audio play at normal volume. So if I'm listenning to some audio, and havent toggled vo, getting a notification will make it play the way it should when not ducking the audio, this can be a bit of a shock.
