Hello everyone,
I hope all are well. Earlier this year I upgraded my phone to a 13 Pro, going off of Verizon's holiday deal. Setup was smooth and there have been no problems with the phone so far.
The phone came to me on January 20, and I'd been using it for almost a month when early last week, my phone rebooted with a dialogue that I ignored at first because I thought it was just a once in a lifetime thing, because I'd never seen it before. The message basically said "Important camera message. Unable to determine if your camera is a genuine apple part. It may have been replaced incorrectly or may not be function as expected." Then it gave me an ok and a learn more button. Well I knew this phone was new and there was no reason to replace it. Apps like Aira have been working well with the camera for the most part, so I thought nothing about it until today.
I've rebooted the phone a few times more after that error popped up, and I never got it again, so assumed the issue had been corrected, until I went into the settings app this morning and found the same alert. Is there something I need to do to fix this error? Is it basically the software just not recognizing the camera for some reason? I If it's not going to impact the use of my phone to take pictures and use assistance apps, then I won't worry about it. If indeed this could cause a problem, I'd like to remedy this new before I lose my default apple care coverage. I have 25 days, and if I have to fix it I might as well before I lose the opportunity.
Let me know if anyone has gotten this message, and what was done to fix it. :) Thanks in advance, and have a great day.

Take it back to your carrier…
Take it back to your carrier ASAP. It sounds like either a hardware malfunction or somebody pulled a cheeky little non-genuine refurb. Was the phone new when you purchased it? As in, did it come new in box completely sealed with 90 days to add Apple Care Plus?
Yes, the phone was new
Hello,
Yes, the phone was new, with the included Apple care coverage. It was completely sealed in. I took off the wrapping. It's also important to note that the error didn't even come during initial setup. The phone has been working with no problems, and the error didn't start until 3 and a half weeks or so. I'm wondering if at this point the best thing to do is to just take it to Apple and explain what's going on. I'd call Verizon, but they'd probably tell me to do the same thing. If Apple has informed me that something is wrong, I'm going to launch a formal complaint with my carryer, as I had some issues placing the order to begin with, and their trade-in through the mail is a pile of crap as well. Anyway, I'm definitely planning on looking into this within the next day or two while I still have care coverage. So far from what I've done with the phone, the camera appears to work just fine. I also just updated to the latest IOS update today based on a suggestion from someone on twitter, and the important message is still there.
