If I install 8.2 on the above, how do you think voice over will be?

I believe that my Aunt has IOS8 on her Ipad 2 and it runs ok. It might very though. I don't have an Ipad2 myself.

I updated my iPad 2 a few weeks after ios 8 was made available and my iPad was rendered so unreliable while using Voiceover and zoom that I had to buy a new iPad. I got the first Air and have not updated it to ios 8 because it runs beautifully on ios 7. I do the ios updates on my iPad 2 since its already ruined and so far it remains sluggish and unreliable with Voiceover running.

I think that it depends on if you have VO and zoom running on the older iPad. I've seen people running iOS 8.2 on older devices and it seems to work fine for them. I don't think it would hurt to update, but back up your device first.

If you happen to use a Bluetooth keyboard or airplay I would advise against upgrading. In iOS 8 there is a glitch where you must switch quick nav on/off in order to be able to type in text fields that I do not believe was present in iOS 7. There is also an issue that if you enable airplay then you cannot use dictation until you turn off airplay and restart the device. Both of these issues have been documented on AppleVis and presumedly sent off to Apple Accessibility for resolution.

I personally wish I had not updated my iPad 3 to iOS 8 and I have advised my sister (who has an iPad 2) to not update hers until these two bugs have been resolved since she uses a Bluetooth keyboard and airplays to an Apple TV.
