Hi all,
Just curious how is the ios15 performance using an IPhone8? I'm waiting on some bugs to be worked out before I update and I still have an IPhone8 so was just curious how responsive it is compared to ios14?
Thanks

Performance and features
From friends with iPhones 8, they say it runs alright, but some of the features won't be available as with newer iPhones. Good luck!
No problems.
I've been running ios 15 on my 8 for a while now, I was in the public beta. No issues with speed, but there are some minor things it can't do. No need to replace the phone yet, though, a new one might run Envision ai faster, but other than that, it is fine. I'm quite comfortable trying to get another year out just to see if they come to their senses and bring back touch id on something other than an entry level model without 5G.
Rumored iPhone SE 3rd gen
There's a rumor that there will be a third gen iPhone SE with 5G coming out -- maybe next spring. I'm waiting to see if that rumor comes true. In the meantime, I'm holding on to my iPhone 8, but I've not upgraded to iOS 15 yet. I'm also waiting to see if there are problems that might effect me.
I sure wish there was a comparison of battery life between an iPhone 8 and the new iPhone 13 Mini.
Use the Apple store app
You can get spec comparisons between iPhone models and the Apple store app. Hope this helps.
I heard about the SE third…
I heard about the SE third gen update as well and kind of waiting on that, plus upgrading my phone is more of a want right now and not a need to my wallet as my 8 still works fine.
iPhone 8 Battery Life On iOS 15
Hi all,
I have an iPhone 8 as well and installed iOS 15 as soon as it became available. There haven't been any serious bugs but my phone's battery life has become awful. Sometimes watching a 10-minute YouTube video using cellular data could make my battery level drop by more than 5%. My battery health is at 100% as I got my battery replaced a few months ago so I have no idea why this is happening. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem or do I need to upgrade to something like the iPhone 13 Mini?
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Maddy
works great on my 8 plus
When I read the list of bugs here on Applevis, I wasn't planning to update, but that resolve only lasted a couple of days. I have iOS 15 on my iphone 8 plus now, and on the whole, my phone is more responsive than it's been in several years. I haven't encountered any of the bugs that I was worried about from the Applevis post. I'm updating to an iphone 13 pro, only because I understand that my 8 plus can't take advantage of a lot of the newer accessibility features such as live text, but if I didn't care about gaining access to those features, I'd happily continue using my current phone for as long as it's supported. As it is, though, my plan is to give the 8 plus to my mom while it's still got some good life left in it. Not sure which bugs you're the most concerned about, but you may be safe to update now. I was scared, but now, I have no regrets.
It's probably not your phone…
It's probably not your phone but with every major update there's always battery drainage for the first few updates.
The wallet bug is the…
The wallet bug is the stopper for me as I use the wallet app a lot when it comes to reading card numbers and such when calling the company tied to that particular card.

my observation over several ios releases is that apple intentionally slows your phone and drains your battery in all super release, i.e., ios 11 to 12, 12 to 13, etc. this is ios 15.0, so it is predictable.
these major release coincide with new iphone release, the simple conclusion is that apple wants you to feel your phone is too old and you might just go out and buy a new one. in the next couple of updates, the situation should improve, because apple doesn't want those who hold on to their older phones to get too upset.
you might call me a conspiracist, but you can watch out yourself, and see if things do improve in the next update or two.
btw, one doesn't have to buy a new phone just because the battery is bad, one can just replace the battery. you can get your battery replaced for $30. even if you insist on paying apple price, it's only $70, i believe. $70 can rejuvenate your otherwise still perfect phone for at least two year, that's the kind of deal i'd personally take.
probably not the 13 mini
i have an old iphone 8 around, i can tell yu it's perfectly fine. as for the batter issue, see my previous post.
also, you definitely want to wait, see this:
https://mashable.com/article/apple-iphone-14-images-leak-jon-prosser
titanium frame, underscreen touch id, no notch, it's worth the way, even if it eventually doesn't come true.
iPhone 8 battery.
This happens with every release. It is not a giant conspiracy either. When the new o/s is installed, it has to do some background processing at first, and they don't seem to have sense enough to get it all done when it is plugged in. Before evaluating battery life, wait a good week.
How do I get my battery replaced for $30?
I go on daily three hour runs listening to podcasts. Am afraid to use any of my preferred navigation apps because my battery will suddenly drain to less-than 50%
all over the places
just google, lookup the yellowpage or ask some friends, all the shops i dealt with also put a new water risistant seal after swapping out the battery, so the quality is no difference than apples. but if you only trust apple, it's only $70.
i don't quite understand why so many people think they have to treat the battery like some precious gold, and when the battery is bad, the first remedy they think of is replacing the phone. i don't mean one should abuse the battery, but one should stop worrying and do whatever one wishes to do with his phone, for productivity or for fun.
Thanks for the info
Apple's branding is extremely powerful. I have this unreasonable fear that third-party products and services won't work as well.
