iOS13 Voice Control dictation and Speach

Hi all, please be kind as new to this site.

I am now trying to use Voice Control dictation to write letters, notes, emails etc.

It works reasonably well for myself, however I need to be able to read back what I have written. Anyone know how to do this? I can say "Speak Screen" but this is then the whole document and too much.

I would like to be able to read back just the previous sentence or last paragraph. I can get Voice Control to "Select previous sentence" etc. The text is highlighted and if you tap this, small boxes occur. Scrolling to the right eventually finds "Speech". This is all a bit messy and to be frank I can not read those little boxes!

Anyone know how to get Voice Control to do this or easily (big button) to read highlighted text.

Many thanks. Jon

If focus is on the edit field, try saying swipe left and then swipe right. it will go to the previous element and then back to the edit field. Perhaps that will help read back what you have written. There may be other methods of accomplishing this as well, but I am still relatively new to the voice Control commands myself and am learning. Perhaps do a google search of Voice Control commands and perhaps you might find one that will help read back your text entry.

I'm assuming you aren't using voiceover, but with voice control it might be a good idea. The selections you ask VC to make will be read, and using the command "go to end" will deselect the text and take the insertion point to the end of the field where you can continue. I do this when using text messages, but in that case I select all.

Hope this helps.
