iOS 9 voiceover Bluetooth issue

Hello,

Some questions. Does the VO get routed to your phone while the music get routed to the Bluetooth speaker? Or does VO and the music both go to the phone speaker? In other words, what sound goes where?

If your Bluetooth speaker uses airplay, VO will route to your phone speaker while music routes to the Bluetooth speaker.

If you can provide more specifics, we can assist you better.

You are not crazy, and you are correct this is a bug. It has been raised a few times in the main iOS 9 bug thread.

You're work around is the best one I know of.

I can confirm similar behavior. I use two Bluetooth headsets with my iPhone and iPad. If I turn VoiceOver off, do a task, and then turn VoiceOver back on again, VO audio then goes through the iPhone, not the headset.

If your headset or speaker has a Play/Pause button, try pressing it to make VO audio return to your speaker or headset. This usually works, and you don't have to unpair and re-pair your device. If pressing the Play/Pause button doesn't work, turn your headset or speaker off and on again. One of these two options has always worked for me so far, and I haven't ever had to re-pair my audio devices yet in IOS 9.

I have experienced the bug as described, but I think I may have come across another workaround.
The said workaround involves using Siri to turn off and on VO, when you are connected to a bluetooth speaker/headset.

When I ask Siri to turn off VO, the music remains playing from my bluetooth speaker.
When asking Siri to turn on VO, the music and VO output comes from my bluetooth speaker.

I'm not sure is this just an oddity, or is it an actual workaround.
Please let me know if you try this, and if it works for you.

I just tried turning Voice Over off, and then on again while using my finicky Sony blue tooth headphone receiver. I did not lose the blue tooth audio routing to the device.

When I triple click Home to toggle VO, I almost always have to power cycle the receiver to reconnect to my phone.

Please do the following:
The next time it happens press the home button and either of the
volume buttons simultaneously.
Let up on the buttons wait a little bit (a 10 count should be
fine) then do it again.

Connect your iPhone to a computer and sync it.
The logs and stack shots will transfer to the computer during the
sync.

For Mac OS X systems:
Connect your iPhone and sync it in iTunes.
In the Finder press command+Shift+G and navigate to
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
If you have multiple iOS devices select the appropriate device to
get the logs from.
Compress the folder and send it to us.

For Windows system:
Connect your iPhone and sync it in iTunes.
Windows XP: the crash logs are in C:\Documents and
Settings\USER\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\
Windows Vista & Windows 7: the crash logs are in
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Apple
computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\device name

I don't know if this will help, but I recently found out that when a bluetooth device is paired in iOS 9, there's a setting in the rotor called audio destination. leaving the device paired, you can toggle to the internal speaker and vice versa.

I haven't experienced the aforementioned bug since I never turn VO off, so I'm not sure this rotor setting will help.

Personally , I don't understand why we need the audio destination function in the rotor. Why not simply use the control centre?

I never noticed it until I decided to pair both iPhone and iPad to a Bose speaker that can have two devices paired. If I've got music playing on the iPad, I change the audio destination on the phone to internal so I can hear VO on it.

Audio switches or routs sound from my bluetooh speaker to my wired headphones when I switch audio ducking on or off.
I upgraded direct from 8.4 to 9.2.

Doesn't matter if I turn audio ducking on or off or if it was off to start or not.

1. Open control Center.
2. Open AirPlay.'
3. Turn on Bluetooth speaker.
4. Turn router control to audio ducking.
5. Toggle audio ducking.
6. Audio switches from speakers to headphones, both in control panel and in reality.
7. I can repeat this.
8. Rebooting doesn't fix it.
9. I haven't reset my iPhone yet.

Sorry but I have to revive this topic. I am on iOS 9.2.3 and I use bluetooth hearing aids. I like the audio destination rotor setting to switch between the hearing aids and the internal speakers. The problem I have is that the audio destination setting does not appear when I want it to! Once it appears and I set it to say, internal speakers, the only way I can change it to my hearing aids is to reboot my iPhone 6s. This is frustrating.
Th audio destination setting does not appear on the Voiceover rotor settings. It looks like it shows up under some set of circumstances that for the life of me I can't figure.
Any ideas?

mani. Try switching your Bluetooth device off then on again. It seems to be the only time audio destination shows up.
I hope it's added to the Rotor in iOS 10.

I updated my phone yesterday. I am not able to use my headset to talk on the phone. I can answer and end calls using the headset. I can't hear people and they can't hear me. The headset is a LG HBS 800. I don't usually have a bit of trouble with this device.
