Hello everyone, I am in the Uk. Have just bought an iPhone 5 but at the moment feel totally baffled by it. I have turned on voice over but I must be doing something wrong, because whatever I seem to do the fone doesn't do what I want. Maybe I am not doing the correct finger gestures. I understand that siri must have to be set up but I can not set it up on my own. If someone could give me some help, I would be very grateful. Best regards, Lovable rogue

Welcome to the applevis community I am glad that you reached out to us for help with you're iPhone. To set up siri first go to settings then go to general then siri then you will see a button that says siri off then double tap it to turn it on. To use siri press and hold the home button until you hear a tone then speak the task you want siri to do such as call momor open accessibility settings and then let go the home button so siri can respond. Next when you want to close apps now in iOS 7 you can double tap the home button to open the app switcher then swipe with three fingers up to close a app.

Hi and welcome to iOS. Don't worry, you will get the hang of it and get to love your iPhone. I've done some short tutorial videos on using iOS with VoiceOver which you can find on my channel www.youtube.com/davenason I'd also point you to the VoiceOver practice area which you can get to either by performing a four-finger double-tap on the screen (this gesture can be tricky in my experience though), or by navigating to Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver>VoiceOverPractice. This allows you to practice carrying out the various gestures and taps in a safe area. Hope this helps. Please ask if you need any more help. Enjoy.

Hello everyone, I would like to first apologize for not replying earlier but I have been trying to switch my Vodafone number from Nokia to iPhone and it hás not been easy. I would like to thank everyone for your help it really hás been much appreciated. If I may, I have a few more questions. In your opinion, what is the best scanning app, text grabber or prizmo and why? does anyone have an idea of how I can end a cal? Double tapping at the bottom of the screen doesn't work in IOS 5 for some reason. Does anyone know if Vibre is accessible as well as whats app? Finally, how do I search on tune in for radio stations. For some reason it always lands on my last station. What is your opinion about digit eyes? Once again, thanks for all your help and I hope in the near future I can help you myself.
Hello! I try to answer your questions as good as I can.:) 1. Scanning apps. My personal favorite is Text detective wich has worked just with no issues all the time. Well, I say no issues, but I don't count in the obvious OCR mistakes. It has helped me read the random papers appearing on the door mat, and crashed computer screens, tv menus, thermostat screens etc. Very helpful app. 2. Ending or answering the call. I usually double tap with two fingers to answer the call. To end it, I press the screen lock / power button. Note that while ending the call with lock button, the phone has to be next to your ear, so that screen is deactivated and the sound is coming from the airpiece. If you are using speaker mode, simply double-tap with 2 fingers on the screen to end the call. 3. Viber and WhatsApp Work very well with VoiceOver. Although I personally prefer WhatsApp for its sound quality, but its only me. Your 2 last questions I will let others to answer, since I am not using neither tune in or Digit Eyes. Good luck!
Text grabber easily scans and translates printed material in to readable material on the iPhone with voiceover. In tune in radio to search for a station look for the field that says search for songs artists stationsand shows type in what you want to search for then double tap search.
