Introducing Find - an app to find text in real life, like Command+F but for anything printed

Hi everyone! I'm the developer of Find, an app that lets you search text using your phone's camera. I've recently been working on accessibility and VoiceOver support. You can download the app on the App Store.

Find's main feature is to find text where you normally can't. This includes books, worksheets, instruction manuals, nutrition labels, pretty much anything. It's fast, accurate, and completely offline.

Besides text-finding, another feature that comes in handy is Lists. This lets you group words together to find simultaneously. For example, you can make a list of your allergies: "Peanuts," "Almonds," and "Cashews." When you use the list, Find will look for all 3 words at the same time, and let you know if it detects any results. This works great when shopping for groceries.

You can also find from your entire photo library! It's pretty fast and gets through around 100 photos per minute. In the latest update, I've also added a Transcript feature that generates text overlays. Just double-tap on any photo, and Find will place a rectangle above all detected sentences. Drag your finger over them to read it out loud.

Find is a free app with no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or ads. And because it's 100% offline, I don't collect any data (except for Apple's opt-in crash logs). I would like to hear any feedback you guys have! This is the first time I've published full VoiceOver support in my apps, so there is a lot to improve on.

Thanks for reading my monologue! Again, please let me know your thoughts!

Hi!

Based on reading your description of the app, it sounds like an OCR. app. Is this true? Can you use it on say, memes for example? Is my understanding correct?
If I've misunderstood then please correct me. If this app is what I understand it to be, then I'll have to give it a try.

If not, I still love it though. Particularly for grocery stores, because it seems to me like you wouldn't have to scan products, and then find out that it's not the brand you need. This way, you can just put say, your favorite kind, brand etc of say chocolate chip cookies in a list, and this app will tell you if it detects those words on a package.

Your understanding is completely correct - and yep, it works on memes! Just head over to the Photos tab, and tap the Find button. This will search your entire photo library for the text that you enter.

I will soon add an option to search in specific albums (for example, screenshots only) so you can get results faster.

Ok. I'll have to try this out! I can't wait for this option! So, can I find a photo, upload it to this app, and have it extract the text for me? Because that's what I do a lot of the time too.
Thank you!

No need to upload your photo to Find. The photo library inside the app is automatically synced to your normal photo library! Inside the app, just look for your photo, and double-tap on it.
