Hello šš¼ I'm Thomas, an independent developer for Apple platforms, and would like to introduce my app Fin - Budget Tracker today!
I've been working on the app for over 4 years now and recently spent a lot of time on improving its accessibility features (VoiceOver + Dynamic Type) for the next update.
I'm posting here because I'd appreciate it if someone who has more experience than me and uses VoiceOver frequently could take a look and provide some feedback.
The app is a modern personal finance tracker, supports a lot of the latest iOS features (widgets, App Intents, etc.), is updated regularly, and has been featured multiple times by Apple in several countries.
Key Features
- Quickly add transactions
- Customize categories
- Add multiple accounts
- Set budget goals
- Analyze income and expenses with interactive charts
- Attach photos, PDFs, weather conditions, and locations
For the full list, please check out the App Store description as well.
Accessibility Improvements
Generally, I tried to optimize the accessibility of all high-value screens (= most viewed screens) in the app first, but most of the other screens should be usable as well. If you come across something you use regularly, and that could use more improvements, just let me know.
VoiceOver
- Charts provide a summary, and each element can be accessed
- Smart element grouping
- Descriptions for category colors and icons
- Adjustable elements (date and budget goal pickers)
- Widgets
Dynamic Type
- Flip horizontal layouts to vertical if appropriate
- Support for all sizes
Other settings that are now considered
- Reduced motion
TestFlight
I have a TestFlight version with all of the improvements above ready and available for testing: https://testflight.apple.com/join/We2C84lO
With this version, all of the premium features can be used free of charge, and if you want to continue using the app after testing, I'm happy to give away some promo codes as well, just contact me directly.
I'm happy for any kind of feedback and you can reach me here, via office@getfin.app, or through the support section in the app.

Very accessible
Good morning,
I just took a quick run through of the app and it is very accessible.
However, it wants a subscription.
Why would you need to pay for an app that helps you manage your budget? That just doesnāt make sense logically.
RE: Very accessible
Dear KE8UPE,
thanks for your important feedback!
I'm glad to hear that the effort is paying off.
Regarding the subscription, this is a valid point of course. However, how would you monetize the app?
Best regards,
Thomas
What if you make the lifetime option cheaper?
Hi,
As it stands, the lifetime option is currently $74.99. That's a lot for a budgeting app. Could you reduce it to $20 or $30?
This seems inappropriate
Developing apps takes time and resources. He deserves to be paid fairly for the work that he does. Plus, itās not an app designed to help you save money but to budget your money.
You donāt need to pay for it if you donāt want to, but youāre free to say it isnāt worth it for you personally without suggesting the dev should sell himself short.
Bank connections
Hi :) does this connect to banks directly or do you have to manually add transactions? I've been looking for an accessible budget app for forever!
RE: Bank connections
Hey šš¼ you have to manually add transactions for now (or use the CSV import feature from time to time), but Iād like to add bank sync in the future. Would love if you could check out the beta version regardless.
