iOS and iPadOS
Hi,
I've only just discovered this site and would be very interested to hear feedback from visually impaired users regarding my iPhone and iPad app called Easy Cooking Timer. I recently added VoiceOver support and would love to know how successful or otherwise my efforts have been.
The app lets you create a library of meals. Each meal has a list of items, and each item has one or more steps that must be performed in order to cook that item along with a duration for how long the step takes. This allows for things like pre-heating the oven or turning an item half-way through cooking. Items can be copied from other meals to quickly create meal combinations. Once a meal has been created (or chosen from your existing library), you can start the cooking timer. You can either start cooking immediately or choose a time for when you would like the meal to be ready. The app automatically calculates when each step should start so that that all the items finish at the same time. Before each step is due to start an alert sounds, warning you that something needs to be done. There is a reminder just before the meal is ready and a series of overdue reminders afterwards in case you missed it.
The iPad version uses a double-sized font to make it easier to read and in-app alerts automatically dismiss so that the app can be used hands free whilst cooking. Of course, you can switch to another app or turn off your device and you still receive alerts which VoiceOver will read out.
The app is available on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id492224774?ls=1&mt=8 for $1.99 (or equivalent). Here are 5 promo codes to allow users of this site to download the app for free:

There is more information on my web site: http://hacknicity.com/easycookingtimer along with links to a tutorial and full user guide. There are lots of screenshots and clicking a screenshot will display a larger version. It may be of limited use to forum members, but there is also a sixty second overview video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57OpirNUL5Q
Thanks for your time,
Geoff.
