Introducing the Civic Engagement App

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I'm not quite sure what the standard rules are for discussion forms like this. I apologize if I'm using this form for reasons I shouldn't be using it, but anyway.. My company just released an update to our app "Vote4DC" a voting information and voter registration app that we are contracted to build by the DC Board of Elections. This latest update was a massive overhaul as we programmed every feature and function of the app to be compatible with VoiceOver.

This means that users who are blind or visually impaired can utilize every feature. There are a lot of components to the app, but the main ones are voter registration, updating your voter registration status, requesting an absentee ballot, accessing step-by-step directions to your polling place or mail drop location, and viewing your sample ballot.

All of this can be done from your iPhone. For instance, when you register to vote you fill out the form, sign the screen with your finger tip, and submit the form electronically. There's no printing or mailing involved.

Anyone can download and try the app out, although I admit it's only of real value to DC residents/voters, however, I hope to build enough excitement around this app so that other large cities and states will take advantage of this technology to allow all users full access to their election related resources..

I encourage everyone, especially DC users, to try this app out.

Thank you,
Nick

I don't live in DC, but I appreciate the fact that such an app exists. Sounds to me like it should be a standard for cities, at least, if not states, all over the U.S.
