iMessage issues

Hey all, I've started noticing recently that my iPhone was failing to send messages as iMessages. This is especially the case when I enter someone's new phone number in, and this person is on a iPhone but my iPhone still fails to recognize it as a i device and can only send the message as a text message. Anyone else has seen this?Thanks. For the record, I am on an iPhone 5s on AT&t.

Yes I have seen this before. I will try to explain what I noticed, and how I fixed it. I don't know if this is a security feature with iOS 7, or a bug, but noticed it myself. Try to have that contact first send you an iMessage, and then respond back to them, and it should work. I'm not sure if this is to keep unwanted people from sending iMessages, but I had the same issue with at least 3 contacts, and once they sent me the first message I was able to initiate the next iMessage to them with no further issues. Hope this helps, and if it does I still don't know exactly why.

Hi Personally I haven't seen this issue. I have an iPhone 5S also running iOS7.0.4 but I saw a comment or twit last night on Twitter talking about this. the Twitter said; last 48 hours iMessage continually gives the ffailed to send error, but people keep replying anyway.

I haven't seen this issue in a long time but I have had this issue in iOS 6.
