Hello all! I have a couple of questions about the Voice Dream reader app. I just downloaded it a few minutes ago, and I can’t wait to start playing around with it! I do have a couple of questions. And I may have some more over the next few days as I start learning how to use it. So please forgive me. LOL

1. Regarding MP3 books. Can I download them to my iPad, and then import them from the Files app? Or should I zip them from the Files app and then import them? What would be the best way to go about doing this? I would be going to the book share website to download an MP3 book. If that helps.

2. From what I gather, just from what I’ve seen from looking into purchasing this app, it looks like I will be using it for more than just one box! My question is, I have one drive. And I have Microsoft word stuff. I thought I seen something about how you can have one drive be a content source on voice dream reader. How would you go about adding that as a contents source? Can you do that?

Thank you all in advance!

I have iCloud running on my PC. This creates and iDrive folder in Windows Explorer.

In the iDrive folder are folders for many of the apps to which you can transfer content by simply copying files to the appropriate folder. For Voice Dream there is a folder in iDrive labeled Reader. In the Reader folder is another folder called Loader. If you copy books to the Loader folder they will magically appear in the Voice Dream Reader app.

One thing to note is that books transferred to the Loader folder will appear in the Voice Dream Reader app in whichever folder is open in the Voice Dream Reader app at the time of transfer. Thus, if you want transferred books to appear in a special folder, create and/or open that folder in Voice Dream Reader before the transfer.

good luck.

If you double-tap the Add button in Voice Dream Reader (VDR) you will find the options you have for content sources. I just looked and I did not see OneDrive listed, but I think you could use the Files app to transfer from OneDrive to VDR. You can definitely use Dropbox and Google Drive, as well as iCloud as mentioned above.

Bookshare is also listed in the available content sources, but since I don't have a Bookshare account, I cannot answer how you would go about transferring directly from Bookshare, but supposedly it's possible.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter where you zip up the mp3 files. If Bookshare delivers them to you in a zip file, you should be able to simply transfer that file to VDR. Personally, I zip them on my computer and use Dropbox to transfer them to VDR and that works great.

dream reader can be set as a share option in one drive. I transferred a Word document to reader. Dream reader did not read the file. You may have to export the Word file in a compatible format to one drive before sharing it. In addition, Google drive is supported as an additional cloud service.

Hey. So. About OneDrive being a content source. Upon opening the app, I couldn't find OneDrive as an option.
This is a work-around I figured out just minutes prior to reading your post.
The closest thing I could find to having OneDrive as a content source is:

1. Go to your files app.

2. Go to "Browse" (which is located on the bottom right of your screen.)
3. Tap Browse twice until VoiceOver focuses on the "More" button on the top left of the screen.
4. Tap "More"
5. Tap "Edit" in the following menu that appears.
6. If you have OneDrive installed on your device, go until you find "OneDrive".
7. Toggle the switch on.
8. Tap done.
9. Go back to Voice Dream.
10. Tap "Add" which is located on the top left of your screen.
11. Tap "File Browser".
12. When in the File Browser, go to "Browse" which is located on the bottom right of the window.
13. Under locations, swipe until you find "OneDrive," tap it.
14. In the OneDrive folder, there are two subfolders. One named "Shared" and another named "Files".
15. If your file is shared with more than one person, it will be in shared. Tap the corresponding subfolder and you'll be brought to the contents of the "Shared" folder.
16. If it's not shared, tap "Files".
17. There are two subfolders. One named "Attachments," and another one named "Documents". Tap on the corresponding folder and it'll bring you to the contents of either folder.

I know this is complex, but I hope this'll help.
