If she was with Siri, voice and iOS in 17.2

Is anyone else having trouble using one of the Siri voices as the default voiceover voice? Since I updated to iOS 17.2, when I use the Siri voice on my phone it sometimes makes a crackling sound. The behavior goes away completely If I switch the voice I’m using, but the problem isn’t consistent. I don’t have the same issue on my iPad, which is running iPadOS 17.2.

I occasionally get this while using US Siri Voice 4, as both Siri and VoiceOver voice on my shiny brand new iPhone 15 Pro. 🫤

The only way I found to get around It is to set up an activity with voiceover. That way when it acts I can switch the Voice without having to dig through the voiceover settings. Hopefully they’ll get it fixed in the next update but it’s annoying. I like the Siri voices but At least we still have many options to choose from.

I have always liked the Alex voice. I am old school like that. My old iPhone SE2 uses that, but Siri voice 4 for Siri, though it is running iOS 16.7.2 still. Thought I'd try a more advanced voice with my new iPhone, but yeah, it is a shame Apple keeps messing with them. 🙁

Every time there's a new iOS, I try to switch to a different voice. I especially wanted to try a siri voice or something when iOS 17 was first released and Alex kept morphing into Samantha. Now, thank God, that annoying bug seems to have been fixed, so I just stick with my buddy Alex; have used him more or less exclusively since iOS 8, and am very happy and thankful that I can also use him on my watch. I'd love to change things up once in a while, but to my ears, no other voices sound as pleasant, and even taking the pronunciation dictionary into account, most other voices have pronunciation quirks that I just can't handle hearing on a daily basis. With all that being said, though, I hope that all the various voice-related issues get resolved sooner rather than later.

I hope they eventually get this fixed, but in the meantime, I’ve been using Zoe. I’m curious though. I usually use the same voice on my iPad, my phone, and my watch. I’ve always wondered, though, if most people use the same voice across all their devices, or if they use a different voice on each device. I hope that makes sense. At least until they get this problem fixed though. I’ll be using Zoe on my phone and Siri on my watch my iPad.

On my MacBook Pro, I am using Karen Enhanced. My Alexa device that sits on a book case in my living room, also has a female Australian voice, that sounds suspiciously like Karen.

Currently I am being stubborn on my 15 Pro, however.

Oh, and of course my old SE2 still has Alex. 😏

Siri4 voice does this a lot. I do like voice4 though. The problem is with the activity work around it installs the bigger voice files and then you got the old siri voice sluggishness back.

Only issue is that when I use her to send a message, and she is reading, she stops. She takes time to read it again. Comes and goes. Big bug. Maybe it will fix in iOS 18.

I'm talking about Siri voices using Voiceover, so admittedly segwaying into another topic here. Why do they keep disappearing? I have to download them again and again! In 17.1.1 I thought a work-around was to set my Siri voice to the same one I use for Voiceover but that isn't working for me anymore. anyone else any work-arounds for this one?

I used Zoey enhanced for a long time but I am now using Ava premium. I use Siri voice 4 as my default Siri voice.
