Hi everyone, I’m confused why no one has mentioned this bug before on the forum, I did have a look through previous posts but couldn’t see anything related to it so I’m wondering if it’s something that only I’m experiencing or whether there is some kind of workaround for it that I don’t know yet.
I recently updated my device to the latest version of iOS 16, before that I was an iOS 15.
The problem I’m having is that whenever I’m playing audio, in previous versions of iOS swiping on the track bar would allow you to skip forward based on the length of the file, for example a file that was three hours long you could jump forward 10 minute increments which was quite helpful for long lectures.
But now whenever I swipe up and down, I can only go a few seconds forward and back, which is practically useless as there are already buttons to skip forward and back by 10 seconds.
I don’t know what this bug might be, and it would be useful to know how the track bar behaves for a visual perspective as I am curious to know if this is a VoiceOver only issue or weather is designed in this way.

Double Tap and hold
I doubt this is something only you are experiencing, but I usually navigate large seek bars by double-tapping and holding. After the sound/haptic happens, you can move your finger a lot or a little to either side and change the time that way. Some controls will read the new time as you move. It's obviously a little more fiddly, but it is possible to move by larger amounts that way. Hopefully this will suffice as a workaround in your situation.
Double tap and hold doesn’t work for me.
On most time slider bars it hasn’t worked for a long time, maybe years. It did work way back when, it wasn’t very accurate but it at least worked a bit. I think the answer to why nobody has mentioned it is that there are so many little problems, so many niggles and quite a few big show stoppers too. It all just gets lost in the noise. IMHO.
@simon, thanks for the suggestion
Thanks for the suggestion, it worked.
It’s a clumsy way to navigate but at least it’s better than how I was doing before.
A bug
This is a bug.
Another workaround is to unlock and find the seek bar in said app and it will work as expected by swiping up/down.
My experience is that this bug only appears on the lock screen.
Bug
I experience this too. If I unlock my device the slider does work but just in like 3-second or so increments. I just go to the slider in the app and it works just fine there.
