I am looking for a news app, what do you suggest?

Hi AppleVis users.
I'm from Portugal, and I would like to improve my English with an app that provides news in either text or audio format, such as from a radio station. It can be from any English-speaking country.
Thanks in advance!

NPR is a good one as many of the articles are in audio and text form and it's fully accessible. The builtin news app is also good. CNN is an OK.

NFB Newsline is also very good, and free. What I like about it is that it has a wide selection of news sources available. I'm not so much a news junky anymore but really like this app. For those of us with an NLS eReader NFB Newsline is available on there as well. I currently can't get much if any content to sync, but I'm sure that'll be sorted out in time. Hth and good luck. Btw, you don't have to be an NFB member in order to use Newsline.

I'm not sure if people outside of the US can qualify for the service.

1. Google News. This is a great app but some news sources display ads in such a way that it interrupts VoiceOver from reading the article, which is problematic. Some sources are behind a paywall but this app is still great and worth pursuing.
2. Apple News is free and Apple News+ is around $10.00 per month. There is some duplication in that some of the news sources are also available from NFB Newsline and so if you're a Newsline subscriber you'll have to decide whether Apple News+ offers enough content that matches your interests that you feel it's worth the investment. While News+ is mostly accessible some news sources, such as Maclife, don't have the most accessible table of contents and so it's impossible to know the names of all of the articles. This is only the case with some sources and not all of them.

I should also mention that an RSS reader can be a great app for obtaining news from many sources. The RSS reader that I use, which is called Lire, is not free but is well worth the few dollars the developer charges for it.

Hello! Thank you very much for the suggestions! I tried a few, but ended up going with APNews since NPR and NFB Newsline are inaccessible in my country. Who knows, maybe one day we'll have a service like that here... I haven't tested the RSS feeds yet, but it's an option to consider. Apple, who knows why, doesn't have Apple News available here...
Once again, thank you all for the suggestions!

Yes, the NFB Newsline is only available to U.S. citizens.

But I believe that you can find the NPR One News app in the app store:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/npr-one/id874498884

This has many news articles, podcasts, etc. published by NPR and, if you're looking for audio and quality news, that should work.
