How can we tell VoiceOver not to use the USB audio interface?

Dear community, especially audio enthusiasts,
in the recent months I have become a huge fan of Garageband for iOS, and I have begun using it for some serious music production. Since this quickly becomes impossible without decent speakers, I connect an USB sound interface (a MOTU M6) to my iPhone. Using an USB hub I can connect a MIDI controller as well, and with this setup I can play software instruments with very low latency. Add a Magic Keyboard and you've got a beautiful music creation workflow.
The only major annoyance is that I can't figure out how to make VoiceOver use the iPhone's internal speakers instead of shouting out over the studio speakers. I need to be able to listen to the mix while simultaneously adjusting things with VoiceOver, so VoiceOver shouldn't insist on becoming part of the mix.
Any help is appreciated!
All the best,
Endarion

I don't use an audio interface on the iPhone, but on my Windows PC I can ask Jaws to output through a different speaker, thus pushing it away from my main studio monitors and audio interface. If iPhone can do it also, that may be your help. I'm wondering this as well, though, so take it lightly, please. Thanks! :)
