Hey guys, I know this sounds silly, but how exactly do you hide the keyboard on an iPhone 12? I tried to close the keyboard on Facebook messenger, but every time I open up a chat, the keyboard opens up automatically. I don’t know how to close it without backing out of the chat altogether. And with other apps, it either goes away because I’m entering in a search field, but if I’m in a chat or something, like a text field an app such as iMessage or any other text field that does not go away when i press return, it just will not go away.

Sometimes I find that if I swipe up or down the screen enough (so example: if I'm in a chat and swipe left a bunch and scroll through some messages) this makes the keyboard disappear.
Look for the done button above the keyboard
Usually there is a tool bar just above the keyboard that says previous, next, and done.
I tried the two finger scrub just now but it took me to the previous page.

I have tried looking for a Dunn button but unfortunately I do not see one in facebook messenger. I even tried the swiping several times to see if I could make it disappear that way, but it doesn't work. I used to be able to click on one of the date headings that says for example, April 21, 2022 at this time, and I would double tap on that and it would go away, but now that doesn't even work. Thanks so much for your responses. If you guys can find one that works, let me know.
