Ok guys, maybe worth not updating to V552.0.0 if you haven't already. Just updated and the back button has vanished if you go into a post. The only way I've found to come out of a post is either turn on SR which I hate in FB or use the scrub gesture. That does seem to work but it doesn't seem to work everytime not sure why.

Ja, facebook is frustratring again. The scrub gesture is a hit and miss when in a post, and you have to close the app and open it again!

As I said in my original post the scrub gesture does work. I ddon't have to close the app unless it doesn't work but oddly most of the time if it does work it dumps me in the status bar. A 1 finger tap in the middle of the screen then does take me back to where I was before. All a bit annoying.

Hi,
Has anyone been able to figure out how to edit posts or comments on Facebook with Voiceover?
Why do you think it's so difficult?

By OldBear on Saturday, March 14, 2026 - 14:55

Last time I had the edit issue, I hovered my finger over where the edit place was with one hand, and turned VO off with my other, then single-tapped the edit place, then turned VO back on. It worked, but that was a time back, and I don't use the phone to post very often. It did not work any other way, as far as I could find.
Might give it a try.

Hello everyone.

First, the issue of the back button not visible to VoiceOver has been reported through the 'Report A Problem' feature, found under menu/help & support/report a problem. Second, I have always been able to edit a post by opening the navigation bar then selecting edit post. So a non-issue here unless I'm missing something. To edit a comment double tap on the comment and select edit. Again a non-issue here unless I'm missing something.

This is why I will never take nfb seriously, ever again because they were apparently in talks with FB to help fix accessibility across the board but it seems like that ship has sailed. Lost respect for both companies because FB has an accessibility team which never does their jobs right and NFB is all talk and no action unless they're toying round with miners in their training centers. Yes, I said that because that did happen. Sorry for going off topic.

They are all talk and no action. Before anyone points to Vispero giving users of the Home annual license AI page describer, which will be coming on May
13, as seen on Freedom Scientific’s Facebook and Mastodon feeds, the users got that done.

Subject says it all. Who ever is still involved with said cult should be ashamed knowing the disrespect from that org as a whole.

Are you all referring to the Naz.. *cough* I mean, the National Federation for the Blind? πŸ˜‡
One should never do, or listen to, or believe, anything they preach.. ever.

The latest update of Facebook still does not resolve the back button bug. I guess the two-finger scrub remains the only usable gesture.

There’s another way as well. If you turn on screen recognition, you’ll find the back button in the top left.

You can do a double tap and hold, then slide your finger to the right... that works too. make sure you are focused on the text of the post, or the person's profile picture on top... then do the gesture. Feel free to share everywhere.

Thanks Matthew for this tip, it works like a charm! I've just shared it on AppleVis' Facebook page as well.

Ok V555.0.0 Has fixed the back button. Or at least for me.

I mostly use it in my window PC but when I am in bed, use the iPhone, It was becoming a pain doing the 2 finger z to go back previous screen. Will test it later when I get the update. I have not seen it yet. LLC.

For lack of the pun, glad the back button is well, back.
